Guest guest
Hi. My son-in-law Adam, 26 years old, has just been told he has colon cancer. The whole thing doesn't make sense to me. On April 24th, my daughter Mandy and Adam went to the hospital to have their second child. I spent the day there being with them both. At 6:38 p.m. my new grandson was born. I spent some time with all of them that evening and then went to pick Zoie, their 16 month old daughter, up from the sitters. Later that night Mandy called and told me that Adam was going to the ER room for he became ill. Adam has been having stomach problems now for a few weeks and was doctoring to try to see what was going on. He was scheduled on April 25th for an ultra sound. Anyway, Adam left Mandy's room in the OB ward and went to the ER room. The doctor on call did an emergency cat scan and they discovered a mass in Adams bowel. Adam had surgery Tuesday afternoon to remove the tumor. During the surgery the doctor seen more tumors in the intestine area. Those could not be taken out is what we were told. After the surgery the doctor explained to us that Adam went through surgery fine but he did fear that the tumor he took out and the tumors that he had to leave were cancer, not being 100% sure, but with his experience he figured that was what we were dealing with. On Friday of last week Adam had to go back and have his staples taken out and to find out the path tests results. We are dealing with colon cancer. He will be seeing the oncologist on May 23rd to discuss it all. The twist to all of this is Adam has been on workmans comp. for a back injury that has to be operated on...(a bulging disk problem). Adam has been dealing with that since Christmas of 2005. I am so scared for Adam and my daughter. They have 4 children under the age of 5 years old. I was hoping for any information I could get to learn more about colon cancer and treatment. I do know the doctor stated it was an aggressive cancer and it has started to spread. Adam will be having a total body scan soon I believe to see exactly where it has spread too. I would appreciate any comments from all members and please keep my kids in your prayers. Thank you.
