Guest guest
Hey Sandy, Have you read Barbara Lucks' Vitex Research Project? Lots of ladies using Vitex agnus castus now and it works for hot flashes .. and PMS. Lots of folks praising it toinclude some in my office. I sent a long list of posts to this list once on that .. if someone wants it again, I'll send it. Additionally, though its not specifically related to hot flashes .. or is it? This is outa my league .. ;-p Stacey Miller came out with a testimonial the other day on another list ... on a similar? subject. When she refers to me .. she's talking about some spasms I was having due to an old injury to the vertebra .. not PMS .. ;-p But I went through plupurple hell for a week afore I started sniffing Origanum vulgare and I mean no sleeping for more than 15-20 minutes when I would get so exhausted I couldn't stay awake ... but within 15 minutes of sniffing it, the spasms stopped. Anyway, here's Stacey's post: > " stacey612 " <stacey612 > Thu Aug 15, 2002 2:18 am > Singing Butch's praises about antispasmodic O. dubium > > Ok, all you menfolk here need to please plug your ears and go > " lalalalalalalala I can't hear you " since I'm going to be talking > about *women's issues* that might make you uncomfortable. (Forgive > me.) :-P > A doctor recently told me I probably have a duodenal ulcer (haha big > shocker after my last few months of h***) and said I can no longer > take any over-the-counter painkillers except Tylenol. > Big problem considering the severe menstrual pain I contend with > every month, and how Naproxen is the only thing I've ever found that > controlled it (Naproxen and Ibuprofen are BIG no-no's with ulcers.) > I'd been talking with Butch about some excruciating pain and spasms > he'd been experiencing and he suggested inhaling Oregano since it had > worked for him. (I'm pretty certain he was referring to the O. vulgare > type.) He said it was considered antispasmodic and had almost > immediately killed his pain after 5 minutes of inhalation. > Of course I had to at least give it a try...... (He also strongly > recommended I try inhaling Vitex oil, but I don't have any at the > moment.) Anyhow, a few days ago I got to try it out. I did 5 minutes > of inhalation of Origanum dubium linalool type every few hours > starting with the first afternoon and I had *no pain* afterward. Minor > discomfort, but none of the stay in bed for 2 days excruciating pain > I fully expected. I'm highly skeptical of miracles, yet experiencing > no pain was a total freaking miracle. :-O > I know this probably sounds too personal to share in a group > (especially to some of you men who continued reading!), but I just > had to share my results. I think it's absolutely worth a try for > anyone who isn't able to take NSAID's or wants an alternative to > OTC's for muscle spasms or cramping. > Oh yes, I'm also sharing this because I told Butch I would be singing > his praises to high heaven if it actually worked. :-P > Of course I'll be doing this every month, so I'll have a better idea > later if my results were just a fluke. (Doubtful, but you never know.) > > Night, > Stacey who is still singing Butch's praises :-)) So .. there are two possibilities .. and another I can think of would be sniffing common Basil .. Ocimum basilicum .. it works for some folks. > I'm sure this has probably been asked here before, but does anyone here > have any suggestions or recipes for herbs and/or essential oils that might > be beneficial to a menopausal woman who is going crazy with hot flashes? Sandy Now .. if I missed the whole thing .. I'll go back to my room. ;-p Y'all keep smiling, Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
