Guest guest
Hey Ana, I just got my & $%# & @ ;-{ PC back on line after hours of down time - and this is my first post since then. > All week long last week I just could not focus very much! Lon was all > stressed which makes me stressed and then I whine or something.. > So when I finally sit down on my computer to read something good I > come to this group. Agree .. this is a Blue Bird List. Great to read with morning coffee. I like it for that reason but it doesn't fulfill my total need for info so I'm a member of other lists that are not so friendly. I often go to the Ankara Ballet and Opera and Ambassadors's Residence for cocktails - where I rub elbows with Ministers and Generals and other sorts of stand up dudes .. but sometimes I prefer sit at my outside pub and suck down a few beers with folks I have no more in common with other than sucking down a few beers and tawking crap. > It is such an interesting group of women! Are the men on this list not interesting too? ;-p > I mean everything I like to read about! Great .. glad it makes you smile. But if somebody tells you that you are doing something dangerous with EOs will you like to read that too? > So anyhow I just quit the IDMA aromatherapty list because I just get > way too emotional in a fight and there is always fighting there or > maybe everyone on that group just likes to debate or something.. You are 100% right .. the IDMA list has developed a style that includes dealing with difficult controversies and there are lots of emotional replies that could sometimes be interpreted as debate. Each list in existence has its own personality - usually either dictated or created by the list Administrator. The Oils & Herbs List os a Blue Bird List .. TLC Toiletries is a pretty friendly Christian oriented soaping list ... 1Toiletries is a cut throat soap list similar to IDMA except IDMA has no List Moderator - the List Administrators on 1Toiletries wear steel-toed boots to get more effect when they kick butt. Alaska Soapers is a list of good friends who live the tough life in Alaska .. and AltAromatherapy (one I've never joined) is a rough and tumble battle of wills and ill wills between ego-maniacs and obsessive marketeers. Each is different but I guarantee that there will be more issues solved on 1Toiletries when it comes to soaps and cosmetics than on all the others combined .. same for IDMA when it comes to essential oils and the aromatherapy industry. IDMA is where the big kids play tough games. Many folks on that list have been there since its inception .. back in the early 90s. There is NO WAY a new person can come on any list and redirect the mood and temperament of that list .. they can get their butt fried by trying if they have thin-skin .. or they can fall in with the folks and put out some good info. One of the most adamant anti-YL and anti-NAHA voices on the list now is Victoria Linssen .. but less than one month ago she came on with a post saying she wished folks would stop all the non-essential oil discussions as she was bored and had joined to learn about EOs - now she is in the forefront of the press being put on YL and NAHA. IDMA is a list that makes things happen in the world of aromatherapy. IDMA is not a list for folks who don't like stressful and intense discussions or folks who are sensitive to a point that they take offense or feel insulted when there time in the barrel comes along .. as will happen when we involve ourselves in any controversy. Its a tough list and I've written to many newbys who complained on that list .. told'em that if they couldn't run with the big dawgs they oughta consider staying up on the porch. I will defend IDMA because I know its value to the world of aromatherapy and essential oils .. but I won't recommend it to folks who want to avoid excitement. > And then you know me, I post something from left field which attacks > everone one! I musta missed that one .. don't recall seeing anything from you that I would have interpreted as attacking folks. Sometimes its our very own perceptions we gotta deal with and not others .. and I think you might be wrong by thinking folks think you attacked anyone. I think there are some on IDMA who feel attacked if you simply disagree with them. Some try to act like sugar and spice, attack others in less than subtle ways and act horrified if you come back with similar treatment. Some are offensive if they even say good morning .. its their nature. And some are TOTALLY emotional in all the negative crap they put out .. those are my favorite ones because sticking their nastiness and bad-attitude back up their nose without being like them is like taking candy from a baby. All you gotta do is stick with the facts and avoid emotions .. and they learn two things from that. They learn they gotta play nice and follow the rules or they go someplace else - that is, unless they're into pain. But I didn't see one by you that was attacking anyone. I did, however, see TWO people come on line with posts that had no use at all except to distract folks from the heated and very important issue that was being discussed .. that of the decline or death of the ONLY AT organization in the USA. Those distracting posts were both political in nature and had exactly nothing to do with the issue of NAHA ... and for AT folks, NAHA, ARC, TAP and the like are very important issues. We've discussed these issues on and off for MANY years and nothing ever became of it .. it passed along like smoke and things went back to being rotten as hell. I for one did not wanna see the discussion sidetracked for no reason and turn into a political thread which is about as useless as tits on a boar hawg! But this time, we've been able to cause three things to happen that will get NAHA's attention and the attention of a lot of other folks .. and y'all should be happy about this even though you might think it will not affect you directly, because it WILL!!!! One is the organizing of a conference in Phoenix in October that will cost next to nothing .. folks can have their tables for nothing .. and its ONE MONTH after the NAHA conference in Seattle .. one that costs an arm and a laig and bank debt to attend. These conferences are where we meet folks we talk with on line .. networking if you will. And where we can display our products to others and increase our sales. And finally, its where we can hear some folks talk about things they're knowledgeable about. I was to speak at the one just held in Raleigh, NC but I backed out because I wanted to show my lack of support for NAHA .. and I think that my decision was a good one because it helped some others to make a similar decision that they knew was the right thing to do. The second is creation of a group that is putting together the mission statement for a NEW Aromatherapy organization that might replace NAHA. I am on that private list and I will support them unless I see it going the direction NAHA has gone. The first smell of power-grabbing and ego boosting I detect will be the last day I support and the first day I'll start working to destroy that one too! I told that to the ARC long ago on the IDMA List .. when they began to plan their activity. Later on, I decided that they were no more than a scam game of some of the same good ol' boys and girls that run NAHA .. and that they were offering useless tests that gave no certification or qualification and charging a helluva lotta money for those useless tests. And I saw that even some of the material they were testing was drawn up by schools that are teaching totally incorrect information .. so how the hell could they know what is right or wrong? Anyway, today I am publically down on the ARC what I would do .. not that I think they really care all that much but in time they might learn to care more. The final thing was just put out a few minutes ago. Lynda and Graham Sorenson were able to get an article exposing YL and Gary Young posted on the Health Fraud List ... that is an accomplishment. And Kathleen from this list has taken great steps to expose the comical and illegal and unsafe activities of Young Living and Gary Young in two exposes on her On-Line Aromatic Sage magazine .. they are both fantastic and if y'all are not a member of that $18 a year list then you're only cheating yourself!!!! > I didn't even know what Raindrop Therapy was until recently and I am > like, ah yea? Some people have to care enough to get involved .. some people have either volunteered for or have evolved into or have been elected by unnannounced vote to champion and stand up for and defend the safe and sane and ethical use of essential oils .. I am one of the many in this position and Raindrop Therapy is one of the most important and unsafe practices in the industry of AT. It is one that has the potential to take essential oils OUT OF YOUR HANDS and out of the hands of everyone on this list!!!! I enjoy that role because fighting is what I used to do for a living .. for more than half my life .. so its nothing new now. I think we all should be proud that folks get involved. And we should not expect those who get involved to be sacrificial lambs due to lack of support from the community. I was once listed as #2 on the Young Living list of public enemies .. and was proud to be there. Even last week, a very near histerical (methinks) president of NAHA came on line and said she was bring a lawsuit against 4 folks .. I was one of them. She even went so far as to misquote the Miranda warning as if she were a cop and were putting us under arrest .. ;-p But it didn't work - not at all! If folks had called the cops when all the hollering and crap was going on a few years back, a few folks would not have wound up being cooked and eaten by Jeffry Dahmer. ;-p This applies also to the many folks who have gotten involved, often at the risk of their own safety, to help others. Its easy to not do it. I was real lucky in that I had a full-time real-life mission during my military career. Most troops only have a real-life mission in combat but Military Police are on the front line in combat and peace time and I loved every minute of it .. miss it a helluva lot now too. I never ever told my folks they were expected to die for their country in combat, I told them their mission was to stay alive and help their buddies do the same and help the enemy to die for his country. And during peace time, I always told my cops that it was NOT their job to be friggin targets or punching bags .. they were put out to prevent the innocent from becoming victims of the guilty and to put the guilty bastards in hand-irons and get them off the street. I was always less concerned about responsible use of force by my cops than I was about one of them being hurt or killed in the line of duty while trying to do a thankless job for people who usually scorned them unless they were one of the victims we helped. I got carried away maybe but I was on a thought process of those who do get involved in the industry of AT or any other area where there are wrongs to be righted. > " So what do you care what somebody does with their jar of tee tree or > cinnamon? " I know you didn't mean for that statement to come out as it did .. ;-9 If you did there would be no reason for you to be on any list - this one included. If folks didn't care enough to tell others when they're doing something dangerous or just plain dumb then why join a list? If folks are only gonna nod if you tell them you're gonna ingest Pennyroyal to take care of a cold (it will work) instead of telling you its great for dermal application but will kill you daider'n a doorknob if you ingest it, then why care what others think about neat use of Tea Tree or use at all of Cinnamon Bark EO? If more folks thought that way (and Young Living teaches that way) then we would be certain to loose free use of EOs sooner than we might now. Let ONE newspaper article pop up that discusses some serious harm caused by essential oils and that will be the catalyst for the Congress to get their underwear in a knot and push the FDA to do what won't take much pushing to do anyway .. that of taking away our right to self-medicate, of putting essential oils into the realm of the AMA and multi-buck, multi-national pharmaceutical companies - which they want to do anyway. It damn sure won't hurt me if it happens. I live a lotta years afore I learned what an EO is and I don't need the money from running my company so the worst thing that could come out of it would be I'd have more time for fishing and enjoying life. Oh yea .. I'm gonna tell you something you are thinking of doing that is unsafe - its toward the bottom of this post. ;-p I've come on the Oils & Herbs List more than once and told folks that IDMA existed and they might wanna join IF they are not thin-skinned and IF they can handle egos and hassles and peeing contests .. and I've always said that there is a lot of good information to be found inside all that crap. There are medical personnel, chemists, producers, exporters, AT practitioners, attorneys and many other trades and skills represented on the IDMA List .. and if we wanna see a Rainbow, we gotta stand a little rain. That's a description of IDMA. I've been a member of IDMA since 1997 and there are a couple of sensitive folks there who can't defend themselves properly in writing who have called me a bully because I try to cut throw the bovine excrement and get to the cause of the smell. I've been an activist for the causes I believe in all my life and the the ONLY forum around where I can do this for AT or EO is IDMA. It can happen because the List Pappy does NOT get involved at all. He is not even concerned about AT or EO .. and he doesn't monitor the list. He describes it as a discussion between folks sitting around a table and when we think of it, unless you have invited them all to your back deck for a bar-be-que, odds are great that any such discussion is gonna have lots of dissent. But then, I've never learned ONE THING in my entire life from anyone who thought exactly as I do .. nor have I learned from folks who pussyfoot their way around difficult and controversial issues. > " You smoke don't you? " Yep .. and got pretty well lit up last night on Efes Beer too but that's my call what I do to myself .. I don't drive when I drink and I'm a nice person when I'm lit. Me, a retired Turkish Colonel, a Russian manager of a natural gas project being built across the Black Sea and a Police Officer who is the bodyguard of the President of Turkey, drank a lot of beer and sang peasant/village songs till damn near two in the morning and then went to eat Chicken Doner Kebab .. ;-p I'm also a courteous smoker .. I don't smoke around anyone who objects or in the homes of non-smokers. But unsafe and irresponsible use of EO is a totally different animal IF we want to keep the freedom of use we have now. Young Living and Raindrop Therapy may well be the reason we loose this right .. and I'm happy that there are folks like me and many others who are not apathetic about it .. and who are willing to tell the President of NAHA that she is doing a terrible job and destroying NAHA. Even after she came on line and told me she had already contacted her attorney and was bring suit against me .. I went back with my intentions to see her removed from her position or I intended to do all I could to see NAHA isolated and bypassed and replaced with an organization that will properly represent mainline aromatherapy in the USA. If somebody wants to get my dander up, all they gotta do is threaten me and they done opened a big can of whupass that ain't easy to close. > Hahhha > libra thing I guess. Air, the sword, cutting though things.. But you wouldn't feel that way if the discussion on IDMA was about the anti-gun lobby .. if they were running their mouth with narrow meaning. I know that you (like me) like sporting weapons and I say they won't get mine till they pry my cold, stiff fingers from around the handgripes. We have to stand for something or fall for anything. I am NOT an aromatherapy practitioner .. I go to great lengths to make sure folks understand that. I'm a contract-producer, exporter, importer and quality control executor of essential oils .. but I've decided that I will take on those who would do in the free use of essential oils .. just as I will take on any who try to take away my Constitutional right to own and bear firearms. Or those who would victimize others - period! > Merc is direct but things won't get settled until June 25 so, good > morning to you all, and ideas about Frankincense? > What should I mix it with? Sweet Orange or Neroli might be good .. Frankincense is a Base Note. > The same old myrrh snadalwood thing or.. Sandalwood is also a Base Note and it might be easier to list what we shouldn't blend it with than what we should blend it with. > frankincense with a drop of wintergreen..hummmmmI do not have > wintergreen! Nobody will ever find Wintergreen on my site because I don't sell HIGHLY DANGEROUS products and Wintergreen is just that .. in fact, its not even a real essential oil .. Wintergreen and Sweet Birch are plain old highly toxic Methyl Salicylate .. a commercial chemical that builds up in the body and can cause SERIOUS liver problems. Both will effectively treat serious pain .. but so will a 357 Magnum round betwixt the eyes. > Anastasia Nothing here intended to down what you have written .. but its good, I think, to sometimes see things from the perspective of another person.
