Guest guest
Hey Michele, > Hi Butch! Actually, I live 30 miles from Portland Oregon, another > " Rose City " It's almost time for the annual Rose Festival in > Portland, which means it will rain Good show .. hope the weather holds .. :-) I have an undeveloped lake front lot on Klamath Lake, Klamath Falls, OR .. so I guess I'm sorta an adopted Oregon folk too. ;-p > I had to leave my 20 bushes behind when I moved last month, broke my > heart, but I just couldn't move them as I didn't have a place for them > at the new house I'm sure that was rough. Shame too but life's not always fair. :-( > Hope the new owners feed and love them properly, but they probably > won't. How does a person get Rosa damascena? I'd love to give them a > try. I'm thinking (from photos I've seen) that the Rosa damascena Chris has is a tad different from ours .. she will know as she's seen both. But there's no way to export them from here as it is a major production with big buck outlay for bureaucratic garbage. Fact is, I'm the only one who has ever done it and then I had to fight the system and it was not worth it unless you could waste government money .. sent over a ton or roots and cuttings to a USAID project in Madagascar. Wasted money it was !! Chris can probably answer you on where to get them in the USA. > Michele (who is down to 6 bushes right now, and tea roses at that) Nothing wrong with them .. they be nice in my opinion. :-) Y'all keep smiling, Butch http://www.AV-AT.com PS: In case some new folks have not seen these .. take a trip here: My writings on distillation of Rose Otto can be found at this URL http://www.av-at.com/distillation/rosadamascena1.html Here's a URL with lots of good photos of wild aromatic plants of Turkey. Twas created by Chris following her trips here and the site used to have sounds, etc. .. was FIRST CLASS - then some jealous person hacked it and now she is putting it together again. When she has time that is. ;-p http://www.av-at.com/stuff/triptoturkey.html Martin Watt visited the Turkish Rose Fields in Summer 2000 - following was published in the Winter 2000 edition of the magazine " Aromatica " . http://www.aromamedical.demon.co.uk/new/rosedistillation.htm > > Michele (who lives 30 miles from the " Rose City " ) > > Hey Michele .. you living 30 miles from Isparta, Turkey? Good show. > See you around the 25th of May when I come over for the annual harvest > and distillation .. ;-P
