In Turkey, family and friends normally do most of the non-medical type nursing in the hospital .. if you have some pull or money enough to pay for a private room, one can have a bed for their spouse. Sorry to hear that. I had an idea that American civilian hospitals were kept pretty sterile .. but then, hospitals are where you find sick folks so I reckon you can find critters there too. My ex-BIL was Rector of Hacetepe University and Hospital. He received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, and when he returned to Turkey, he was shocked to find sanitation standards much lower than in the US hospitals. Many years later when he became Rector .. he realized there was little he could do about improving hygiene due to the state of the infrastructure. He'd tell me that his doctors were the finest to be found but his hospital might kill you after the operation .. ;-p > Hospitals are very high in contacting all kinds of problems no matter > how sterile they say they are.
