Guest guest
Hey Linda, > Welcome back to the list. Sounds like you had a very busy trip. Thankee .. busy it was but at the same time, I didn't wear a watch the entire time .. ;-p > You mentioned two places that you visited that are very near and dear to > my heart........Land Between the Lakes and Monteagle, TN. Spent a lot > time at both of these places and love them. OHHHHH...a house on the > lake, mmmmmmm. They are nice - huh? Did you know that the top of the hill (Monteagle) is the highest point along that north south interstate - the highest from the northern tip to the southern tip of the USA? As for Land Between the Lakes .. back around 1,500 AD that area was known as Mint Meadows by the Cherokee, Choctaw and Chickasaw cause of the large amount of pennyroyal found there. Later, when the Tennessee & Cumberland Rivers were dammed by TVA .. and Kentucky and Barkley Lakes were formed, the strip of land betwixt those two long and wide lakes (really!) became known as Land Between the Lakes .. now a nature preserve and Kentucky State Park. I grew up around there .. used to go fishing dang near every weekend and later we camped there a lot. :-) Seven or eight years ago I went down there with some buddies .. we were land window shopping. You could get 1/4 acre of waterfront on one of the shores or creeks for $20-$25,000 or so .. or a lake view for $12-15,000 or so. You were allowed to install docks as long as they were floaters and they were approved by the US Army Corps of Engineers. Lots of my buddies got lots over the years and build A-Frame cottages or other summer houses. Y'all keep smiling, Butch http://www.AV-AT.com > Linda > Red Barn Enterprises > PayPal Now Available!!! > http://www.geocities.com/redbarnenterprises > Candles & Metal Home Decor
