We learned to be very wary of where we parked the car, because the vines had a tendancy to grow UP nearby trees and then the fruit/loofa would hang down from the vines. Once the plant got to be 25+ feet up in the air, the loofa would get quite large before weighing so much that it dropped off on its own. And, if your car (or whatever else) was unfortunate enough to be directly below this loofa missle, you'd find yourself with some damaged property! I recall that they were quite easy to make into usable loofas...just let them dry out after removing the seeds. The fruit, while growing, resembles a very large cucumber or zucchini. They are actually grown in the garden and are related to the cucumber family AND they are easy to grow. From one vine, you can actually get 25 loofahs. Seeds can be found in many seed shops or mail order catalogues!

Hi Chris, Yes, they are easy to grow. So easy in fact, that, they will take over the garden, the neighbor's garden, the garden across the street, and down the block! Get the picture? {{{{{{{{ grinning }}}}}}}} Deonia
