They are haunting melodies and voices. I always knew what Butchmeant when he wrote that, but this is the first time I ever heard it out ofsomeone's mouth.Gotta talk about the movie. It's the true story of a musicologist who, inthe early 1900s, travels to Appalachia and discovers that the people therehave a song culture, and that the songs are unchanged from England, Irelandand Scotland 200-300 years previously. Pure and unevolved, a historicalfind. The voices of the actors, and their accents are fabulous. You reallyfeel you are *there*.I've rarely seen such a well-done movie, full of interesting and believablecharacters. It was on HBO, which I'm getting free until the 20th, but Ihave no way of knowing if it's going to be on there again, as I wish I hadtaped it. I was going to recommend it to my mother, cept for the lesbians in the movie, I would. Mom would just get up and leave the room and miss the whole point of the movie.
