Guest guest
Hey Jonee, > Hey, Butch - thanks for the reply! Welcome you are. > Your reply was what my common sense was telling me. Good show on that. :-p > This is for a person who should know a lot more about any of this > stuff than me, Hard to say on that .. some folks have been into AT and EO for a helluva lot longer than I have and I'm amazed at some of the things they write. I'm thinking that they read one or two of the novels written by some of the writers who author unreferenced works based on and copied from other unreferenced works. There's one writer out there that is about to have to deal with some protest from me due to their slinging bovine excrement about a certain EO on their website. They're either gonna have to put up some facts or take down the garbage .. or I am gonna give them a lot of promotion .. which they're not gonna like. ;-p Anyway, you might know a lot more than this person. Ten years of experience sometimes translates to one year ten times. In this business, we have to make informed decisions. A good way to do that is to take a credible course on AT and EO. Considering that its still Thursday (Ad day) in the USA .. I'm gonna tell y'all about a super fine course. ;-p There's a relatively new course out by Martin Watt. It has received raves from the many people who have taken it .. even from those who previously took other courses. If one wishes to pay via credit card, they can go through me for a registration number and receive a 10% discount on Option 1 of the course. If that person owns Plant Aromatics (Full-Version - 142 pages) they will get an additional $13 discount as the course includes a Mini-Version Plant Aromatics (44 pages) which will then not be provided. The course can be reviewed at this URL: http://www.aromamedical.demon.co.uk/course/coursedetails.html In fact, I recommend people go to Martin's site and just read some of the good articles there http://www.aromamedical.demon.co.uk I'll also point out the two reference publications that are considered by most folks to be the foundations of aromatherapy and essential oils: 1. The ONLY safety manual on proven safe dilutions for dermal application is Plant Aromatics. The old edition was $75 .. I published the new, revised edition and offer it for $43.90 .. it can now be seen and ordered at URL http://www.av-at.com/plantaromaticsavnp.html I am the exclusive dealer of this publication in North and South America. First printing was November 2001 .. we just finished the 3d printing. 2. The other foundation document for AT and EO, Sylla Shepherd-Hanger's Aromatherapy Practitioner Reference Manual, can be seen at this URL http://www.AV-AT.com/manual01.html This is a desk side reference that folks in the industry consider as a required reference. > so the interesting part will be how I go about telling her that this > might not really be a good idea. Bad news does not improve with age .. ;-p In fact, you might recommend this person read the information I've provided above. > It's a child-care situation - mom doesn't stay home with the children, > but stuffs them with garlic (ages almost 2 and almost 4) daily so > that they won't get sick. (But they do.) Not knowing more than I do, it sounds like a lack of care situation. The idea of disinfecting a young child's hands instead of helping them to wash them .. and teaching them to wash them .. is sorta a turn-off. I won't go into diet and the personal attention kids need cause I'd be preaching to the choir on this list .. and obviously, there will be some mothers who can't afford the luxory of being full-time stay-at-home mothers. I wouldn't criticize till I walked a while in their shoes. > I have some of your fine oregano - I will suggest a spray with a bit > of that for her to try, the kids might as well smell like pizza > inside AND out, eh? LOL! She might wanna try it on her own hands frequently first. ;-p As for smelling like pizza .. as much as I love garlic, I reckon I'd rather smell pizza on the OTHER feller than I would garlic. ;-) > Anyway, I will talk with her about all this tomorrow. Need to learn > to listen to my gut better! We all jump at times .. I do it more often when I'm tired and grouchy - like right now. ;-p But as you learn more and more about AT and EO, you'll soon find that the rules don't need to be memorized .. they are pretty basic and pretty logical. When I lecture, first thing I tell folks is " put the pencils and pads away, " cause folks can't listen and learn whilst they be taking copious notes. ;-p Reference publications are just that .. references .. nobody is gonna remember everything in those publications because they are virtual dictionaries or maybe even encyclopedias of valuable info .. but if they're nearby, we know where to turn when we need that info. I use mine daily .. both the above pubs are within arm's reach of my desk and they're both dog-eared. > Good hearing from you, as always, Butch. Ever a wealth of logical > information, thanks. Thankee m'am ... appreciate the kind words. But this is one of the many things I do for a living, which means we gotta retain a bit of the logic of the situation. And besides that, even a blind hawg can find an acorn now and then ... so I gotta be right sometime. ;-p > Oops! I said: > > " I have some of your fine oregano - I will suggest a spray with a bit > of that for her to try, the kids might as well smell like pizza > inside AND out, eh? LOL! " > > Just wanted to be sure you knew I got the part about it probably not > being too good to put eo's on the little ones - just couldn't resist > the attempt at pizza/humor. I figgered that .. not a boo boo. ;-p > My only excuse is that it's been one looooong day!! Jonee Damn betcha on that one. Its after 8:15 in the morning here now and though I was planning to go home and crash a few hours ago .. somehow I sorta got wrapped around the axle and here I sit. :-( On a normal day, I'd just go home and crash till the Spirit told me to get up .. but I got a good buddy coming down from the Black Sea Coast today .. Chief of Police of Samsun Province .. and I gotta spend time with him plus eat some chow and drink a few toddies with him tonight. I betcha I don't have any problems sleeping come late tonight. ;-p Y'all keep smiling, Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
