When I was living in Oxford England, I had two of my babies at the John Radcliffe hospital. During the birth of my daughter, they were doing trials with different E.O.'s and how the laboring woman felt, whether she thought they enhanced the birth experience etc. Rose came out as the number one oil of choice, for MOST women. I, personally shoved it away as smelling too strong and didn't like it. I opted for my lilac toilet water and even that was too strong. ANYWAY, just wanted you to know, that if you decide to take rose with you, you'll be in good company. You might want to dilute it waaaaaaaaay down though as your sense of smell is enhanced during labor... Just a thought Cheers! Guest guest
I also wanted to add that baby's nose is highly sensitive to smells and is born that way to know mom (among other senses used to know mom). I know that aromatherapy helps in labor. BUT I still wonder how it might help or hinder the baby. I've heard some moms that used oils say that their babies calm down in a room when left alone (i.e. putting them to sleep) if they use the same oil in the baby's room. They believe their comfort (mom) is still in the room with them when they recall the fragrance.
