OT: Ambassadors and Such ** Analysis of Turkish Elections

Thanks .. but really, all I wanted to do was try to put a lid on the mad

ravings of those who read the trash sheets and try to make policy based

on that. Unbelievable what some of the idiotic European newspapers are

reporting on that election. One even claimed it was obvious that the

Turkish military would be taking over soon. ;-(

Don't wish such crap on me Leela. ;-p I used to be in the Political-

Military business .. Attache type work. Had to work with members of the

US State Department who peed and moaned when the friggin Army commissary

didn't get in the type of sliced bread they wanted, whilst in the midst

of thousands of bakeries producing fantastic fresh bread three times a

day .. and who even now only see the attractions of Turkey if they are

on the beaten path - missing the most beautiful and historical places we

could imagine because there's no 4 star hotel in the area. ;-(

 

As for being an ambassador .. if I could be one like the feller we have

here in Ankara now it would be OK .. he's a Harley nut and drives around

with the Ankara (Turkish) Harley Club. ;-p But I guess I'm sort of an

unofficial ambassador for the USA whilst in Turkey .. and I do my best

to be an unofficial ambassador for Turkey when dealing with foreigners.
