Hey Sevi you sweet thing you! :-)

Someone was asking about how to use E.O's on dogs. You're the dog pro and I

thought you might want to have a go with this one!

Hope you are well and that you're not too cold! ;-)

Hugs

K

Cheers!

I am doing well - bit chilly here, mostly darn glad that the snipers

are caught...

As for the use on EOs for dogs - please feel free to ask them and I

will do my best to answer them to the best of my knowledge.

I am here and ready :)

Stay warm Kathleen and though I am quite - I got my eye on the

-Hi Sevi,

I found your website and got a few tips. Thanks.

My first question is for my big boy greyhound. His skin is very

thin and one can see light through it on his legs. He is constantly

scraping his skin when we go out and gets booboos. Right now, I use

Willards Water to clean and promote healing. Of course, he licks

these places constantly. Usually, the heal nicely but sometimes he

gets a deep one down to the bone or ligament that needs a little

help.

Is there an EO I can use on these scrapes since he may lick it off?

Do I need to wrap it and hope he doesn't get the bandage off before

the EO has a chance to work.

I feed my two greyts the BARF (bones and raw food) diet. They get

fresh mashed veggies with herbs, etc twice a week. Both my greyts

LOVE oregano which I add to their mixes and treats. I give them a

little Colloidal Silver about twice a week and use Willards Water

mixed in their daily water.

Thanks,

Bobbye Stegen

Hi Bobbye :)

I will gladly *share what I have used and use -

For starters, I'd use hydrosols on him to clean. The hydrosols I use

extensively are Lavender, Chamomile, Cistus, Witch Hazel and Neroli.

I also use Rose Hydrosol on the entire body.

Than within 7-10 days I'd use one EO but dilute it well - 1 drop per

1 oz. The following week add one more EO in to the blend and so on so

forth. When introducing anything new to any living being - I start

slow and give their body some time to adjust to it...this way I can

see what works, how it works and what may irritate someone/dog.

The first EO I'd use would be Chamomile (German) - Lavender is a

second and a close runner to all is Helichrysum italicum and Myrrh. A

drop of each in 1 oz of Almond, Apricot and Jojoba mixture works

great for my extra sensitive and/or older canine pals. You can buy

most of these ingredients at http://www.av-at.com/prices.html a place

I trust and buy at...

Please keep in mind that people or animals with nut allergies should

be careful (and avoid) when using nut based carrier oils. I also use

Squalene Oil, Grapeseed Oil and Rosa Mosqueta, these oils by

themselves really help healing wounds on my dogs. I also infuse each

oil with botanicals, my favorites (I have 200+ in my studio) are

Calendula flowers, Chickweed, Goldenseal root, Comfrey leaves and

Chamomile.

I also use herbal supplements (Goldenseal, Nettles, Echinacea, Kelp

etc. plus fresh herbs) in my German Shepherd's meals - what do you

use?

I hope that this helps you and your sweet canine a bit. Please keep

me posted!

All the best, always...

Sevi

I am not pleased to include the following, but it is something I must

do..

*Woof, FYI: I do not diagnose any pet related illness and must remind

all that they need to see a veterinarian in case their pet is ill. I

do not offer or suggest any cures nor am I making any claims to cure

any canine illness. The information I share is not offered or

suggested to replace medical care for pets or people. Please do not

use essential oils on cats or use them undiluted on your dogs and I

urge you not to use essential oils internally!

>Hi Sevi,

Thank you for this informative post. I give my two greythounds a

joint blend in the am; glucosamine, MSM, etc. They are both

adopted, rescues and having run for 4+ years, joint health is very

important. With their meals, I often use a blend of alphalfa,

nettles, dandoline, kelp, etc. I give them both 1 tsp. of VCO

(virgin coconut oil) daily. Since it is a medium fatty acid, it is

very healthy. I used to alternate between VCO, Olive Oil and Flax,

but now I'm just using VCO. They also get a little colloidal silver

and Willard's Water (everyday).

Question: The greyts sit right by me when I'm on the computer which

is alot. They, then get the odor and smell the EO's I'm trying out

in a lamp ring. Can they OD on this?

I had German Sheppards (3 white at one time) until these greyts

which I absolutely love, adore, spoil and couldn't do without. Wish

I had a farm where I could have them all. LOL

Again thanks,

Bobbye

Hi Bobbye :)

Yes, I cook her meals with olive oil and include safflower oil, e-

vitamin in her meals. She gets Omega 3 oil which I have to give her

in capsules, she really hates the flavor. Flax is great - we all take

it as a family, but I have a very sensitive stomach and so does

Mundo - it seems to irritate our stomach lining - so we take it once

a month.

I also use plenty of Feta Cheese and Mundo gets regular Feta and

homemade yogurt as well. I do not use kefir any longer - caused way

too much intestinal disturbance and her entire digestive track went

haywire...

As for diffusing EOs the best way I know is using a diffuser -

heating EOS in my opinion is not a good thing. Now with a diffuser,

animals as well as people can OD and can also feel sick (headaches

etc.). So proper use is needed and one must choose the correct

diffuser for the room size etc.

Absolutely no diffusers should be used in rooms where birds reside

in! Cats should be kept in a separate closed room when diffusing oils

as well. Please be careful when using many things in the home near a

bird, eos, cooking on Teflon, room sprays etc... :o)

Your greyhounds seem to enjoy the smell of the EOS you are using -

what are you testing? :o)
