His skin is very thin and one can see light through it on his legs. He is constantly scraping his skin when we go out and gets booboos. Right now, I use Willards Water to clean and promote healing. Of course, he licks these places constantly. Usually, the heal nicely but sometimes he gets a deep one down to the bone or ligament that needs a little help. Is there an EO I can use on these scrapes since he may lick it off? Do I need to wrap it and hope he doesn't get the bandage off before the EO has a chance to work. I feed my two greyts the BARF (bones and raw food) diet. They get fresh mashed veggies with herbs, etc twice a week. Both my greyts LOVE oregano which I add to their mixes and treats. I give them a little Colloidal Silver about twice a week and use Willards Water mixed in their daily water. The hydrosols I use extensively are Lavender, Chamomile, Cistus, Witch Hazel and Neroli. I also use Rose Hydrosol on the entire body. Than within 7-10 days I'd use one EO but dilute it well - 1 drop per 1 oz. The following week add one more EO in to the blend and so on so forth. When introducing anything new to any living being - I start slow and give their body some time to adjust to it...this way I can see what works, how it works and what may irritate someone/dog. The first EO I'd use would be Chamomile (German) - Lavender is a second and a close runner to all is Helichrysum italicum and Myrrh. A drop of each in 1 oz of Almond, Apricot and Jojoba mixture works great for my extra sensitive and/or older canine pals. You can buy most of these ingredients at http://www.av-at.com/prices.html a place I trust and buy at... Please keep in mind that people or animals with nut allergies should be careful (and avoid) when using nut based carrier oils. I also use Squalene Oil, Grapeseed Oil and Rosa Mosqueta, these oils by themselves really help healing wounds on my dogs. I also infuse each oil with botanicals, my favorites (I have 200+ in my studio) are Calendula flowers, Chickweed, Goldenseal root, Comfrey leaves and Chamomile. I also use herbal supplements (Goldenseal, Nettles, Echinacea, Kelp etc. plus fresh herbs) in my German Shepherd's meals - what do you use? I hope that this helps you and your sweet canine a bit.
