Guest guest
Hi All, I have to admit that I've become a lurker in the group. Actually we've been so busy with the livestock and crops that I barely get a chance to read the messages. Now that winter is approaching things will slow back down. I have some concerns that hopefully you can help me with. I have developed some problems that now require me to have a hysterectomy. I am not ashamed to say, I am scared to death. I don't like surgery and I don't like the idea of having body parts removed. Are there any herbs, eo's, etc that I should or shouldn't take prior to or after the surgery. I want to be in the peak of health when I go in so I can fight off any infections that might show up along with being able to heal faster. Anyway, I go in the hospital (I hate hospitals, yucky food, noisy, smelly, and no sleep) in a couple weeks. Any help, suggestions, etc would be greatly appreciated. Guest guest
Hey Carol :-) We've missed you! So sorry to hear about the health problems! :-( I'll be sure to make a little time to get together a list of things to not take/do before and after surgery . *Hugs* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com doggone [doggone] Sunday, November 03, 2002 7:25 PM OT - Need Suggestions Hi All, I have to admit that I've become a lurker in the group. Guest guest
What I would suggest is that you take homeopathic Arnica tablets with you. Take one the very last thing before you go down (you just put it on your tongue and let it dissolve) and as soon as you're awake take another and then one every 3 hours for the first day, perhaps one every 6 for the next 5 days. You'll find it will reduce the bruising considerably and assist with the healing Regards and good luck Ann - Scotland - doggone Monday, November 04, 2002 2:25 AM OT - Need Suggestions Hi All, I have to admit that I've become a lurker in the group. Guest guest
Hi Ann, I've always been hesitant to take arnica internally, read too many things against it. Of course you can't believe everything you hear. I use arnica religiously in a homemade massage oil for a neck and back injury I suffer from. The stuff is wonderful. Use it a lot when I do something stupid that is going to cause bruising also. Can I take it as a tea (have dried arnica) or is it safer to take in pill form??? Thanks for the suggestion and I will try it and let you know how it works. I'm taking my bottle of vitamin e with me so I can put it on the incision. Thanks again, Carol in Idaho , " Ann Thorpe " <Ann@e...> wrote: > What I would suggest is that you take homeopathic Arnica tablets with you. > Regards and good luck > Ann - Scotland >
Guest guest
Hey Carol, Internally - only use HOMEOPATHIC arnica .. not the dried herb, the oil, a tincture or anything like that - just the homeopathic pellets :-) Homeopathic arnica is totally safe to ingest and the pellets are very inexpensive. They can be purchased at any health food store :-) *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com Carol [doggone] Thursday, November 07, 2002 3:38 PM Re: OT - Need Suggestions Hi Ann, I've always been hesitant to take arnica internally, read too many things against it. Guest guest
These are 2 different preparations of arnica. Arnica dried herb should not - I repeat DO NOT TAKEN INTERNALLY. Arnica infused oil on the outside - OK. Homeopathic arnica montana pills - okay. The homeopathic preparation is done differently. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Sorry for the short answer, but I'm exhausted and wanted to be sure nobody mixed them up. Have a good night's sleep - that's where I'm headed. Guest guest
Thanks Chris, I'll have to see if there is a health food store in Ontario, Oregon when I see the doctor next week for the final blood work. No health food stores around us in this part of Idaho. Of course you can't believe everything you hear. homeopathic arnica poses absolutely no threat internally- and properly dosed arnica tincture can be okay, too- but you would want to talk to an herbalist on that one. arnica and aconite come to mind for homeopathics- and rescue remedy flower essence... michelle
