Guest guest
Hi Y'all, And one more .. which appeared on the Idma List last week .. which I am sure Effie (who is on this list) won't mind me reposting. ;-p I'll add that there were quite a few testimonials in support of use of Oregano following this post. Those who are not familiar with the therapeutic values of this fantastic oil have missed a lot and probably have suffered a lot more than they needed to. Butch ------------------- Question is .. can Origanum help to prevent or possibly assist in curing pneumonia? Methinks the answer is YES!!! IF the answer is MAYBE (I know its not maybe but this is for the Doubting Thomas/Thomasina folk that might be out and about) it is not gonna hurt you in the second place and will do much to boost the immune system in the third place. I'm gonna add my 4 scents to what Marilyn has written here. > It's helped me, though I won't get the shot, it'll guarantee me > getting sicker than I ever would if I hadn't gotten it, even the Dr. > agrees!!!!! I think that ANY medical doctor with training beyond that we find as the norm would agree .. especially if that doctor knew anything about the therapeutic value of carvacrol .. the primary active ingredient found in the Origanums. > That, lots of liquids, especially hot tea with raw honey, and maybe > some creative swearing!!!! That too .. ;-p Most of you have read the MANY testimonials I have presented on the Origanums .. and some of the sound testing data I've presented .. including tests conducted at the Medicinal and Aromatic Plant and Drug Research Center by Professor Dr. Husnu Baser and his associates. So here I go with another opinion and testimonial. I had pneumonia one time in my life .. in 1994. When my girlfriend and I left Turkey for a trip to Israel I was already feeling down but was thinking I had bronchitis. The second night in Tel Aviv, I was down for the count .. had to die in order to feel better. Made a trip to the emergency room. The short of it was they pumped me full of antibiotics. I learned from that bad experience that pneumonia is a big bad butt kicker and something we need to avoid at all costs. Howsomeever, since 1996 .. since I have become wiser as well as older, I have not taken one prescription or over-the-counter medication .. save aspirin. Even though its said I'm not all that normal, I get sick like normal folks do .. but I get well a helluva lot quicker than most and I avoid illnesses when those around me are being struck down like those little planes that were messing with King Kong. I will NOT go down with influenze this year .. nor will the folks who work for me - period! Pneumonia is simply an inflammation/infection of the lung tissue, and though it can usually be handled with a wide range of medications, its also one of the leading causes of death in the USA .. especially among the elderly or those who are otherwise weakened from this or that. The common cause of pneumonia is microbial invasion .. but it can also be viral or even fungal. In any case, the therapeutic properties of the Origanums are certainly sufficient to deal with the microbial/fungal aspects and I believe .. as do many others, that it can even kick butt on viral infections .. that is, cause them to stop replicating and go into defilade. Though pneumonia is a big bad butt kicker I have come to know (as have many of you) that the Origanums are Big Bad Bug Butt Kickers. So you need an opinion from a medical doctor - huh? Well, there is one who I don't particularly care for as a person but I have a considerable amount of respect for his knowledge .. and that's keeping in mind that he also sells Oregano Oil. Dr. Cass Igram, in his book, " The Cure is in the Cupboard: How to Use Oregano for Better Health, " says in regard to pneumonia .. in part repeated from pages 82-83. " *** oil of oregano is an invaluable treatment *** It possesses antiseptic powers against virtually all pneumonia-causing organisms. *** helps induce sweating, and this aids in breaking the high temperature and accelerating the recovery. Furthermore, oil of oregano helps thin mucus and opens clogged lung/nasal passages, and this aids in relief of cough as well as shortness of breath. " UNQUOTE He goes on to say that one can inhale the oregano directly from the bottle. Well .. I know this is effective as I've done it more than one time .. as have others .. and the latest was in the last month. I am providing only this reference now .. though I have many others but don't have the time or desire to present them. Take it or leave it as you wish .. there is no shortage of folks who take it and I am not on a crusade .. I am answering a question and providing what I think should be seen as helpful information to those who want to take it that way, But Dr. Igram is talking about a cure .. lemme deal with prevention a little bit. During my last few trips to the USA, I caught a bug each time on the plane .. not at all unusual .. nor was my lack of picking up on those bad experiences and preventing them unusal .. until this trip I just completed. The day I left Turkey, I took three drops of Origanum in a bowl of lentil soup. When I took the second leg from Munich, I had two drops in a large glass of tomato juice. As I have always told you folks, Oregano is (to me) tasty and I have no problems recommending you take a bit in your food to improve the taste .. that is not a medical recommendation .. so there. ;-9 Well .. this trip I did not catch a big bad bug. Howsomeever, around the 5th or 6th day I was in Friendsville, MD .. a place where the sun is up an hour afore the fog/mist in the valleys burns off .. where there is no shortage of humidity as it is in a valley twixt beautiful green mountains and alongside a river, I awoke clogged up like crazy - had a terrible burning in my sinuses and some kinda headache. I whipped out my Origanum vulgare, put a drop or two on a napkin and started sniffing it. Around 5-6 minutes later, the dam broke and within another 5-6 minutes, I was feeling about as normal as I generally feel .. which is relative of course. ;-p Later that day, I had a big bowl of tomato soup .. or tomatoe soup .. depending on your political persuasion, with two drops of O. vulgare in it. I am sure I escaped a bad scene by that immediate maneuver. Also .. a day or two afore leaving I was in Washington, D.C. for a couple of business meetings. My friend and business associate, retired US Army Colonel Joe Lukitsch (who is a member of this list and will land in D.C. from Turkey approximately 4-5 hours from now) had just completed a briefing to management of a particular organization when he suddenly began to look like he was becoming an albino. Somehow, Joe managed to keep his cool until we got out of the place and then he told me that he was sure he had food poisoning as he was in pain, dizzy, sweating and his stomach was turning upside down. We had eaten lunch with another business associate in Maryland that day .. Joe had a hamburger and I had a BLT so I guess I was lucky. Anyway, I whipped out my bottle of O. vulgare and told him to start sniffing .. then we walked across the street to a cafe and had a couple of glasses of sparkling water .. which can help to calm a stomach and if it doesn't, it tastes good anyway. Joe claimed that one or the other of the two helped him considerably .. and though he felt better, he was still under the weather. We were to go to his home for dinner and then over to visit another friend that evening .. and Joe was not sure he was going to be able to do any of these things. To make a long story short, when we arrived at his home .. I had him take three drops of O. vulgare in a large soup spoon of Olive Oil (great way to dilute it folks) and Joe washed it down with a cold Sam Adams. ;-p Within 15 or so minutes, he had decided that he could partake of the fine meal his wife had prepared .. and a couple of hours later, we went over to the other friend's home and had an enjoyable evening. Joe suffered no further problems .. so whatever it was, and I won't try to guess, it was kicked in the butt FAST! There are many folks who will prefer to live (exist?) on the synthetic antibiotics much of society has become accustomed to .. and others who might not want to accept what I have written here. To them I say do as they think is right. I have never recommended anyone take an essential oil in lieu of a patent or prescription medication .. that is, except to me and mine .. I care about them and have no fear that they are going to claim I am practicing medicine without a license. IF I ever find that I have acquired pneumonia again .. and I think that is highly unlikely as I have the immune system of a Great White or maybe a Cockroach .. I will start out trying to self medicate with Origanum. IF I see that it is not working .. I would not hesitate to see a medical doctor .. though I doubt that they would be able to do much more for me as it would most likely have a viral cause that was beyond the reach of what they had too. Methinks it would just be a matter of treating the terrible symptoms, attempting to build the body's immune system and waiting out the virus. So .. Eric, Smilin' Effie and Marilyn, and other good folks .. that is my four scents on this question .. and I'm sticking to it. ;-p Y'all keep smiling, Butch http://www.AV-AT.com PS: Effie .. that Over-The-Hill Gal stuff is crap and we both know it fer'shur. ;-p But lemme tell y'all another tale that makes me feel real good and gives me hope for the future. Was sitting in the Munich airport snack bar waiting for the return trip to Turkey. Feller walked in with a baseball cap on .. had Special Forces slashed across it and a US Army Master Sergeant's insignia over that. I asked the Brother In Arms to sit at my table and we began to talk. His name was Andy .. was a member of what is known as the Phantom Brigade. That's a civilian unit of ex-Special Forces fellers who make a habit of traveling around the world and making parachute jumps in various countries. They have US Army support to some degree in that it is comprised of only retirees. Andy was on his way to Yugoslavia .. he and his group of around 40 folks were to make a jump there. Andy had over 750 jumps .. Andy was 80 years old!!! Andy showed me the photo of his group .. youngest was in his 60s and Andy was the oldest. He had joined the Army in 1941 and retired in 1975 .. he had served in WWII, Korean War, Vietnam and the Dominican Republic .. and some places that Special Forces aren't allowed to discuss. ;-p Andy showed me a xerox copy of a Florida newspaper article dated in the late-90s .. it covered him making a night jump and getting hung up in the top of a pine tree. Let his reserve chute down and tried to climb down but the drop was still too far. So .. he sat it out. Next morning, the firefighters tried to get a truck into the forest but it was too thick .. so finally the Sheriff's office brought in a chopper and dropped a line to Andy. He hooked himself up and they got him out of the woods. The article quoted the Sheriff as saying he had assisted in getting more than one jumper out of trees .. but this was the first time he had helped a jumper in his middle 70s. Said Andy got to the ground, thanked the folks for their help .. and asked if anybody had a beer. ;-p ---------------------- > > I am also interested in info on this crap.
