Guest guest
I have used PrintShop Deluxe in all it's many versions for years. It gives you lots of options and clipart. You can also import your own clipart or designs into it. I have never used the waterproof labels, but I would think if the ink isn't waterproof, what good are waterproof labels. I know Epson makes a printer that uses their Durabrite Ink which is a water resistant ink. Actually it's a pigment based ink. That I'm aware the only one in a lower price printer. I have poured water on a print sample right after printing and it doesn't run. I haven't tried them with the oils yet. Yes, if you go to the Best Buy in Melbourne, FL on the weekends you can find me there talking about Epson printers. LOL We actually have a demo that we put a photo in a water jar and the ink doesn't run. You have to let the photo dry when it comes out and it still doesn't run. It will smear if you run your finger across in while it's soaking, but not if you just pour water on it. What I got was a Brothers Cool Laminator. It has a cartridge that has laminated front and sticker back. You printer your label on plain paper - gives you more color options as well - run through laminator and then cut. You can make any shape or size you want. No more trying to make Avery labels fit your bottles or jars. I'm still working on ideas to make the cutting of odd shape labels easier. I assume you mean a color laser printer with toner not a laser jet which is an HP product. I have one. I got the Minolta QMS and love it. Sure has saved me a small fortune in ink as the inkjet cartridges were killing me. If anyone has questions about printers, I can probably answer them. Everyone have a wonderful day. Guest guest
Howdy Folks, I was wondering what your favorite labels making programs are? I wan to make my labels a heckuvuh lot fancier than I can do in Avery Wizard! I don't think outsourcing to a label making company is in the budget right at the moment, but it'd sure be nice Also, I wonder, has anyone ever tried the waterproof ink jet labels? I remember Kathleen gave a link AGES ago for a website that carried this specialty product, and I didn't try them at the time (and of course I can't find the link now). I'd love to get a laser jet printer, but it is rather low on the priorities list these days . *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com
Guest guest
Hi Chris, I use Microsoft Picture It. It has all kinds of fonts, you can resize the graphics, make them gray scale, clean them up, make them transparent, etc. I usually print them out on large sticker sheets and spray that with a sealant before I cut them out, but a friend was telling me about a Xyron machine that is a laminator/adhesive applier kind of thing. They sell for about $150 for the top of the line one. http://www.xyron.com/ I think I'm going to invest in one of those this week. She swears by it, and says it makes your labels waterproof, even if you're using an ink jet printer. Sure beats the heck out of a $500+ laser printer..... And the Picture It program cost about $40 I think... Guest guest
I use the Xyron laminator. They have to two types of adhesive on their laminate, I use the high tack one. It works best on the smaller bottles especially if you are wrapping the label around the bottle. I purchased mine from Michael's Craft store. Michael's usually has a 40% off coupon in the Sunday newspaper every week. I buy the refills from http://stickermaker.com. The only down side is having to cut out each individual label. Otherwise it works great! ~Tricia Leela [leelagold] Thursday, October 24, 2002 11:41 PM Re: Making Labels? Hi Chris, I use Microsoft Picture It. Guest guest
I'd like to get one of those laminators, but don't I still need a decent printer? Right now I have an older HP DeskJet. It works OK but it does use a lot of ink and it's pretty noisy. I was thinking of upgrading to a color laser printer for my labels. If I can save $ by using the old inkjet and a laminator, that would be great. Is that what you guys are doing? Sara Moore
Guest guest
Hi Sara I spend my money on paper. There is wonderful paper in different colors, textures, etc. I use black ink instead of color ink so don't have a color printer. It all depends on what type of look you are trying to create. ~Tricia s_l_moore_2001 [coastalrose] Monday, October 28, 2002 3:58 PM Re: Making Labels?
