Guest guest
Hi all! Well, today I lost my job. I was part of 17000 laid off...gee, can you guess where I worked? That's right...I was the office manager for WorldCom in Madison. Anyway, I'm excited about the time off because I can dedicate all of my time to my business now, and hopefully make a go of things. I'm curious how the successful people out there got exposure. I'm going to have a helluva lotta time on my hands now, and I don't want to take advantage of it and just sit on my butt-I want to be out there getting my business off the ground, but am overwhelmed at where to start. Any ideas or suggestions? Guest guest
Send a press release to your local paper announcing the " Grand Opening " of your new shop, what types of things you will have to offer. Don't forget the free papers that go around. They often charge very little to to put an ad in their paper. And those 10% off coupons found in there are very popular, great exposure. Put up leaflets up in your local libraries, Have friends and family take some to work with them. Print up a bunch and assault all the parked cars at the grocery stores. Put your business card in all your paid bills. Talk talk talk about it at schools (if you pick up drop off kids), dentist, doctors, church etc. Put a magnet placard on the side of your car to advertise your business, put magnetic business cards next to the placard so people can take one.... How's that for a start? Cheers! Kathleen Petrides Editor: Aromatic Sage, Making Sense of Scents Issue Five is out NOW!
