I want to tell you that it actually sprinkled rain in Winslow this morning, and they have not been predicting any precipitation for this area for at least two more weeks. Whatever it is that everyone is doing, it's working, PLEASE keep it coming!! They announced this morning that at 3:00 pm MST today (that's 6:00 pm EST), they will be having a non-denominational prayer service at the firefighter's camp in Show Low. If you all are where you can, please participate from wherever you are in whatever way you " do. " Candles, prayer, incense, positive thoughts, " drawing your circle, " all is appreciated - and it is working. " Dry lightning " is predicted for the fire area today, which is NOT a good thing. Maybe with all of us pitching in together, we can get some moisture to come from the wonderful clouds that have been gathering here all day. For the first time in months and months, our humidity level here was all the way up to 21% this morning - yesterday at the fire area, it was 3%. Please include all the firefighters, bomber pilots and crews, volunteers and security forces in your thoughts, they are doing a fantastic job. They are saying there are over 5,000 people contributing to fighting this fire now. Sorry to still be O/T - but this horrific fire has burned over 409,000 acres - which is larger than the entire city of Los Angeles, and is in some of America's most beautiful country. Keep the prayers and " rain dances " coming, folks! We REALLY need it out here in these parts desperately! My heart alos goes out to the folks in flooded parts of the country, like Minnessota! Maybe one of these days we'll be able to make a pipeline system - like the highway system - to divert water from parts of the country where there is too much of to to the parts of the country that has too little of it. We are not in danger here, just from tons of heavy smoke - which is tolerable, especially compared to a wall of flames. I know a lot of people who live in the area impacted by the fire, though, and it's really tough for all of them right now. Mostly not knowing for so long, whether their homes and/or business are there - or burned to the ground. Over 400 homes (so far, that number is expected to be a lot larger when they finish " evaluating " the damage), and at least 16 business (so far). It is really sad - especially thinking of all the animals that live in such a heavily forested area, 410,000 acres and growing. I've been watching Minnesota, too - seems like it's feast or famine sometimes, but I think Mother Nature is trying to send us a message to straighten up our act. Thanks again for your thoughts, I'm hoping lots for rain for Colorado, too - we just found out today that our property there (my piece of heaven for later in life!) survived the Hayman fire - by a mere 3/4 of a mile.
