Guest guest
The question is- is it naturally occurring? If so- it is probably the good stuff- not sodium fluoride the waste product... Guest guest
It's my understanding the whole picture of Fluoride is bad. Hydrofluosilicic acid is the stuff from phosphate fertilizer. The following statement is from a Cananda Water company explaining how safe fluoride really is to their customers. Please read between the lines. Rick * What type of fluoride compound is used to fluoridate Calgary's water? The fluoride compound that is used at the water treatment plant to adjust the existing natural level of fluoride, to the recommended level of 1 part per million, is obtained from naturally occurring sources in the environment (rocks and minerals from the earth's surface). The fluoride compound is a liquid that contains fluoride, hydrogen and silica -- all of which are natural components of our water. * The name of the fluoride compound is hydrofluosilicic acid. Although you may be concerned about the name describing the compound as an acid, remember that orange juice contains citric acid, vinegar is acetic acid and Vitamin C is ascorbic acid. * The fluoride compound (700 tonnes per year) is purchased from Agrium at a cost of $374.50 per tonne ($250,000 - $300,000 per year). * The fluoride solution and its vapors are corrosive and therefore must be handled with appropriate safety precautions. Other compounds used in the water treatment process, such as chlorine and ammonia, require similar respect with regard to their storage and handling. * The fluoride solution is a by-product of the phosphate fertilizer manufacturing process but fluoride is not a fertilizer. * For additional information on the fluoride compound, please contact the City of Calgary Water works Department at 287-5100. This is 20% less than 1 ppm. 1 mg/L is 1 milligram of fluoride in 1 litre of water. 1 ppm is the same as 1 mg/L. This amount is extremely small. To appreciate how small, think of it compared with other units of measurement. 1 ppm is equivalent to: 1 inch in 16 miles 1 minute in 2 years 1 cent in $10,000 1 drop of water in a full bath tub There are varying amounts of fluoride in the following: Calgary's fluoridated drinking water 0.8 ppm fluoridated toothpaste 1,000 ppm topical fluoride applied in dental office 12,000 ppm * (1 mg/L is 1 milligram of fluoride in 1 litre of water.) * How many glasses of water do you drink a day? Do you drink your 8 glasses? Which would be around 2 milligrams of Fluoride. How about that pot of spaghetti, which most people don't realize, by boiling the water they've just concentrate the fluoride content, and now it in your spaghetti your about to eat. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Write Fluoride in the search box; http://toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
