Guest guest
Hi Rick, > Butch, > I noticed you own property in Oregon. Have you ever been to the Breitenbush > Hot Springs Retreat and Conference Center? Great place to soak, and they only > charge $8.00 for the day. Never been there .. but it sounds great. > We took a 3 month camping trip this past summer and fall living in a tent, > spending most of the time throughout Washington and Oregon. While on our trip > we learned about Hot Springs, both commercial and free (you find them out in > the woods). I only wish I had started getting into the Hot Spring thing years > ago while I was younger. There are lots of hot springs around closer to you .. in Arkansas and even in Texas. Indian Hot Springs near the border SSE of El Paso is a good one. I did two military tours at Ft. Bliss, El Paso, and used to run all over that countryside. Turkey being a once active volcanic land .. and now sorta active with an occasional earthquake, we have literally hundreds and hundreds of them. I wrote a month or so ago about a trip I took to Kizilcahamam, a resort with ice-cold mountain runoff and VERY hot springs. Maybe 35-40 miles outside of Ankara ... where I live. An interesting point of trivia .. anywhere you find an ancient Roman or Byzantine city .. or one from any of the many other Empires that ruled certain sections of Anatolia from as early as 10,000 BC, you find a hot spring .. dummies they weren't .. ;-p Not different than Hot Springs, Arkansas, which once boasted the finest hotels in the West with stairs leading down to natural hot springs. Hottest water you can imagine. > Here's a few web sites for hot springs: > > http://www.breitenbush.com/index.html > > http://www.soak.net/ They look great .. :-) Thanks. I clicked on the last one and found Indian Hot Springs .. water is 117 degrees F. Used to hunt and fish in that area .. right on the Rio Grande .. we'd fish both sides but as you know, folks don't pay much attention to that little creek .. ;-p It was owned by H.L. Hunt, who was a nice fellow. I've sat with him a few times and told him Vietnam war stories .. a patriot he was. Met him through a Louisiana buddy of mine, Alson Hudson, whose father had gone into the Wild Cat drilling business with Hunt back when a dry hole would have been enough to bankrupt them. Al Hudson's father later sold his shares and H.L. Hunt went on to become a rich feller. Y'all keep smiling, Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
