I am not a soapmaker...but I must say I wouldnt put Rose FO in a soap that I

had used real rose powder and hydrosol! Why mix the real goods with the

fake?

Well... only because I can't figure out a way to 'affordably' scent the

soap with the real thing.

Now bear in mind that this is my oppinion..BUT...please do not put FO

with something so specail like rose

hydrosol/soap...please....please....

rose powder might add some scent but not much and it will turn yellow

or brown in the soap base. I use the rose hydrosol all the time

instead of water and oh baby!

It does stay in the scent of the soap..of course it helps to have a

little rose oil to throw in there..then you have yourself something

exquisite!

just my rotten two cents..

in love of soapmaking!

how about a little rose geranium, palmarosa, a touch of lavender, a

touch of clary sage and mybe one drop of patchouli and one drop of

ylang..these oils along with the rose hydrosol in your soap base will

make a nice rosy blend..

OK... I'll see what I can do with a 2% rose otto dilution... that should

scent it nicely without breaking my rose otto bank. :-)

Thanks for that info!

I'm looking forward to this. :-)

Here's an idea for you. Try hot process. You add the eo's after the soap

is cooked. You not only use less eo, but you can " afford " to use some of

the more expensive ones. I made a rose soap and added a bit of rose

concrete, rose absolute, rose geranium and palmarosa. Turned out pretty

good if I do say so myself. lol. I have Butch's rose hydrosol on the way,

so will try it again with that and see what happens. :)

Hi Sandy (and Ana)

Sandy, I just wanted to second that this is a great blend..I made a

very nice batch yesterday with rose geranium, palmarosa, lavender (1

part each), 1/2 part patchouli, and it was very nice...they blend so

nicely together, and if you are afraid of floral overkill, boost the

patchouli and you can probably drop the palmarosa....

When I make a CP rose soap for myself I'll use 1/2 the amount of water

to add the lye to .. and then at tracing add the other half of the

volume of liquid in rose hydrosol ..

Unfortunately the rose petals don't hold their color well in the soap

.... I'd personally reserve the rose powder for making baths and body

powders.

I use 1 drop per oz of soap Rose Otto oil for my roes soaps, and keep in

mind a HP soap will hold the scent better than CP because the

saponification process is complete when you are adding the scented oils.

Also, I've seen many other good blend ideas given ... and I like

Rosewood too for " rosy notes " in " rosy blends " :)

A big " thank you " to everyone who responded to my questions.

I'll leave the rose powder out of the soap, and I'll look in my stash to

see if I have anything that would give it a rosey color. I have some

colorants but I'm afraid to use them. LOL!

And I'll definitely try that blend for scent. It sounds lovely!

Now I need to go and find some HP soap instructions. I haven't tried that

one yet.
