Guest guest
Hi everybody: Have been gone for a week again and I noticed several newcomers have joined the list. Welcome and enjoy. Had one H of a week. My cocker had a seizure on Saturday night, but came out of it okay and was just fine on Sunday so I went ahead and drove to my daughters (2 1/2 hour drive from here to Cedar Rapids, IA) so I could attend a school play my twin granddaughters were in. On Monday morning we took " Britches " to the vet my daughter goes to and found out her liver enzymes were a little high so hopefully a different diet would help control the seizure problem. Well, on Monday night she had a very bad stroke. So Tuesday morning it was a quick trip back to the vet. There was nothing she could do for her except to give her meds to keep her calm and wait a couple of days to see if she would snap out of it otherwise I was going to have to have her put down. She will be 14 in July. I didn't leave her side all day Tuesday (missed the play) and laid on the bed with her, talked to her, and cried my eyes out. There was a little improvement on Wednesday (which was when I had planned on coming back home), but didn't feel it would be good for her to travel so I stayed and done the same thing I had the day before. Thursday there was a remarkable improvement (the best birthday present I could have gotten)--it was my birthday. She was so much better this morning I decided to come on home. What a trip--she just wouldn't settle down, shook like crazy, panted the whole 2 1/2 hours. Hopefully, just being home will help her even more. To top all that off, my daughter has a day care and one of her before and after school day care kids got caught up in a jungle gym at school and broke his arm between the shoulder and elbow. My daughter had to be at school most of the next day and this little guy couldn't go to school so guess who baby sat!!! I am too 'mature' for all this stuff. You know, potty training for one, making sure another one isn't getting into something they shouldn't, etc., and trying to keep the broken arm one comfortable. Just glad to be able to help her out. IT IS SO GOOD TO BE HOME. Got Britches taken care of and put her in her kennel so I could go out and get the yard mowed cuz it is going to rain again tomorrow (I thought the rest would be good for her). I even put a nice shaggy rug in for her to lay on but she booted it to the side and slept on the floor of her kennel! Anyway, that is why I haven't been responding to any posts. Now it is my turn to hit the sack. Thanks for listening (reading??). Got my rose otto and off I go. Blessings and love, Effie
