Its good for two years easily if stored properly .. and its not a year old yet. Refrigeration will extend the shelf life. Storing in sterile glass with a sterile cap prevents contamination ... keeping it out of the direct light extends shelf life. Not putting your fingers on the lip of the bottle or in the cap helps to prevent contamination .. any water-based substance can become contaminated with bacterial, fungal or mold critters within a matter of hours .. so we need to avoid this. Aromatherapists are so-called " purists " so they dislike preservatives, accordingly, folks who want to sell products to aromatherapists don't use them - but that seller needs to test those hydrosols periodically to ensure there's no contamination .. I test mine at National and sometimes at Superior Labs .. around every 60 days. Last test was received early last week and it showed total purity and lack of contamination. Wanna know how easy it is to contaminate some hydrosols? Put it in a jug which is just rinsed out well .. but not air dryed, and you can almost guarantee contamination. > Should I just get maybe 16 or 32 ounces instead of a gallon? Not wise to do that because .. if you do: 16 oz will cost you $10.65 32 oz will cost you $21.30 But a gallon is right at 8 pounds and with the sale, the cost is: $41.97 - 25% = $31.48 .. OR .. $3.93 a pound .. instead on $10.65 a lb. If you buy a gallon and if its too much you can always take a Rose Hydrosol bath .. ;-p > I understand that the sale price is only on the gallon, but maybe it > would be better if I just bought the smaller amounts. Whaddaya think? Dollars and cents are explained above .. ;-p > -- Sandy Y'all keep smiling, Butch http://www.AV-AT.com PS: Its after 0200 in the morning here, my folks in Maryland are off for the day .. so those who have ordered already will get confirmation on there orders tomorrow .. :-P
