They deprive you of oxygen and I get a little panicky- my last experience was not so great- landing in cleveland in a snoestorm and BARELY stopping at the very end of the runway...and before we landed we were " in the air " circling for 1/12 hours cause our plane was too heavy to land on the open runway- so we had to burn off fuel... Guest guest
Yo Michelle, > > Been meeting and interpreting/briefing them for years .. so why > > don't you come on the next one? ;-P > > Yeah- except that I have my hands full with kids (which I love) So bring the little folks too. :-) Turks will spoil the crap out of them cause they think little rug rats should not be disciplined - they should be tolerated whilst they are learning to be independent and that starts at about a week old and goes through life .. ;-p > AND i reeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaally dont like to fly! Don't gotta .. take a cruise. Hire on as an aromatherapist or massage specialist or whatever .. there's all kinds of ways to get free rides on ships. Moreso for men in their late 40s through early 60s ... if they are personable, can dance and look half way decent, there are lists they can get hooked up on to ride free .. they are unpaid escorts for women who take the cruises. I expect some of y'all might think I'm joking but I am dead serious ... its been that way for many years. > They deprive you of oxygen and I get a little panicky- Can't comment on that cause I know it can be real .. despite logic, it can be very real and very scary. The secret is to start drinking good wine soon as you get on and tell the servers that if you go to sleep, wake you up and give you a drink. If you're flying on Scandanavian Airlines its sometimes hard to tell the Danes from the Swedes from the Norwiegans .. but one way is fool proof. At breakfast, a Dane will bring you a glass of champaign .. a Swede will ask you if you want a glass of champaign .. if that doesn't happen and you ask for a glass and the server tries to talk you into not drinking, that's a Norwiegan .. ;-p > my last experience was not so great- landing in cleveland I admit that landing in Cleveland would scare me too .. ;-p > in a snoestorm and BARELY stopping at the very end of the runway... > and before we landed we were " in the air " circling for 1/12 hours > cause our plane was too heavy to land on the open runway- so we had > to burn off fuel... Fear of flying's normally not fear of dieing .. its fear of helplessness and falling. Folks sometimes feel they are less helpless when they can put both feet on the ground .. though the liklihood of dieing in traffic on the ground is extremely high .. so its not dieing they fear, its sky diving without a parachute .. ;-) > YIKKES I took off in 7 different airplanes afore I ever landed in one - and the fact is that I was scared of heights .. I still get a little bit on the panicky side when I look over the edge of a tall building or even off my 6th floor balcony .. ;-p If I knew I was gonna die in the next ten minutes it would not shake me a lot .. that comes from training and conditioning. But the idea of falling over the railing of that balcony scares the dog crap out of me. Guest guest
> AND i reeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaally dont like to fly! nor me - but when my daughter went to teach in Turkey and then got married to a local we just had to go out - so, (OK I know UK is nearer tham USA) we went by train to the English south coast, ferried across to France, train down to Venice in Italy, ferry - yes I mean ferry - right round to Turkey.(Took 3 days) That last ferry was an experience as it was full of Turks returning home from working in Germany for Bayram and it was packed and their cars were stuffed full of electrical things, most of which got them in big trouble when they docked in Izmir. We had small but comfortable cabins and everyone was really friendly. We came back the same way (after 3 weeks touring around) but left from Marmaris. It was early in the season and this was the first Ferry from there, and in contrast to the packed ferry going out port, and on the way back there were just 12 passengers, food wasn't as good and the stewards spent a lot of time playing football up and down the corridors!! Still just as friendly - the Turks are lovely people. Oh! Venice is quite good too!! Regards Ann - Scotland - who is pleased that her daughter and husband have now moved to UK and can be reached by car!!!
