Guest guest
Hey Rick, Sorry to hear of your situation .. and I guess you know that problems around the eyes are not so unusual but can become serious. Odds are great its a microbial or viral infection. > I got some nasty eye rot? I don't know if it's pink eye or something else. Pink eye (conjunctivitis) is something else .. often its hard to determine what the something else is. Bacterial infections can lead to blepharitis, an inflamation at the base of the eyelashes. This will cause pustules filled with bacteria-fighting white blood cells. I've seen a lot of it in smaller children in lesser developed countries .. fairly common in Africa below the Sahara. A good treatment for this is to remove the extra oil around the eye by washing the area with a baby shampoo. Pinkeye (conjunctivitis) can run from secretions that tend to keep the eyes closed to simple redness and itching .. both are the body's natural response and protection against bacterial or viral infection. Pinkeye causes pink eyes cause its an infection that attacks the transparent membrane covering the eyeball. Other discharges can be caused by colds, allergies, dried eyes due to wind, etc. (some folks use artificial tears to treat this) or just an eyelash scratch on that membrane. Bottom line .. a doctor would likely prescribe antibiotic eyedrops and warn you to not reinfect one eye as it would likely begin to heal quicker than the other eye. Not always the same degree of healing. Doc would say don't use the same washcloth every time and ladies need to toss the eye makeup they've been using as its likely contaminated. On eyedrops, the docs will tell you to avoid those with a long shelf life because preservatives in them can build up to toxic concentrations and damage the lining of the eye. I read a lot into that .. maybe those who make their own cosmetics should too. If its pink eye (conjunctivitis) be aware that it is one of the most contagious conditions .. it can spread to the entire family in a day. Entire classrooms of kids become infected with this from time to time. BUT .. in my non-medical but not so humble opinion, it is one of the easiest conditions to treat .. leastways would be and has been for me and mine but I'm not legally authorized to give folks medical advice .. so I don't. But were it me or mine, I'd pour Rosa damascena hydrosol directly into the eye .. 3-4 times a day and expect to feel immediate relief when I applied it and healing begin within 12 hours or so. At the end of 24 hours .. 48 at the max, I would expect it to be history. > I got a respiratory problem about the same time. Might mean you are suffering from an allergy and it is affecting eyes. > Been soaking my eye's in a combination of Calendula, Elder Flower, St. > John's Wort and Chamomile. Nobody could ever accuse you of looking for a simple cure when a more complicated one is available .. ;-p > It seems to be helping, but not quick enough. Then it is not working. Saline solution would likely give you the same temporary relief. Temporarily relief is sometimes our enemy - not in our best interests as it lulls us into a false sense of wellness. > As Chris know, I don't do doctors! Me too .. leastways not normally .. but sometimes, we gotta break down and go to one. I went last week for the first time since 1995. Got a circulation problem in my left leg and I didn't have any EOs that could do the same thing an EKG could do .. ;-P Bottom line, I'll wind up treating myself now that I know the problem .. gotta quit smoking and drink more Efes Beer to pump the extra cholesterol outa my veins. ;-) > So, if any of you know of any other remedy, lets hear it. Were it me, I'd go for the Rose Hydrosol. I wouldn't use anybody's Rose Hyrsosol for this unless they showed me a recent lab test indicating lack of microbial, fungal and mold contamination. Because we don't use preservatives I have mine tested every 60 days or so .. only costs $30 which is chump change when it comes to folks health .. and we just got the latest result back last week. Ours is UNcontaminated. > My eye's are red, itchy, and little blisters off and on. Yep .. all the above. > Thanks, Rick You betcha .. good luck. Regardless of what you decide to do, if you have this condition for a week or so .. or even for 3-4 days after using Rose Hydrosol, its time to break down and go to a sawbones. Hold off and you might have to visit one for more serious reasons. :-( Y'all keep smiling, Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
