Guest guest
Hi y'all, Got a post from a buyer who wants to make perfume .. I gave a short reply but said I'd ask smart folks for answers .. which I'm doing now. > As we discussed, I am interested in making a perfume with EO that I > plan to purchase from you I will need 5 ml Turkish Rose Otto, 5 ml > Jasmine, 5 ml Sandalwood and 10 ml Ylang Ylang. > > My questions are the following: The perfume will contain all of both > the rose and jasmine (5 ml each), a small amount of the sandalwood > (perhaps 1 ml) and a few drops of the ylang ylang. What dilution of > carrier oil do I need to this 11-12 ml total of essential oils so that > this perfume will be safe to the skin (but obviously still very > fragrant). I REPLIED: First .. you are going to find that the Rose and Jasmine are going to overwhelm the others and it isn't gonna take a lot of either to go a long way .. like a couple of drops. Secondly, you have to consider the cumulative effects of safe dilutions. The above oils have been tested safe for dermal application/perfumery as follows - but this is not considering use of the same product day in and day out. Rose Otto .... 0.2% Jasmine ...... 0.3% Sandalwood ... 1.0% Ylang Ylang .. 1.0% The above means that cumulately, they should not exceed 1% of the total. > Second, what is the very, very best carrier oil available for perfume Most folks use Vodka .. I'm serious .. ;-p But I guess if you are more into a creamy type perfume, fractionated coconut or jojoba. I'm not sure of this so I'll check it out .. we just don't do perfumes. > (I will need to buy some of this from you as well). So y'all .. any help you can give me in replying to this would be appreciated .. :-) Y'all keep smiling, Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
Guest guest
I'd go for the Jojoba Ann - Scotland - Butch Owen Friday, April 19, 2002 8:22 PM About Perfume ????? Guest guest
Now see, I'd go for Fractionated Coconut, for a few reasons: 1. there is no odor 2. there is no added color 3. It's less expensive than the Jojoba and as you are using it as a perfume in presumably small areas, you are not going to be looking for an oil that is good for your skin Just another opinion to throw into the pot!
