Guest guest
Hi Everyone, First of all, in the spirit of talking about the weather, here in Massachusetts it is 93 degrees and everything is popping! Strange weather for April, but who's complaining?! : - ) I am trying out some new body butter recipes and need a little help with some substitutions. I don't have hemp oil -- can I use alomnd, grapeseed, coconut, wheatgerm, avocado, jojoba or apricot kernel? I am not familiar at all with the properties of hemp oil. Also, how about something instead of glycerin? Would lecithin work? Thanks! Debbie deb http://www.bodyhealthcenter.com
Guest guest
When I substitute oils, I generally sub a liquid for a liquid but any oils work in a lotion, butter or cream. It just depends on how you want it to feel. You can just leave out the glycerin if you want and instead just use water or aloe vera gel (liquid). Lecithin should really only be used in small amounts as it can make your blend to sticky. I would look at bergamot and the red mandarine... in my experience, there truly IS no substitute for Neroli... I'd urge your friend to 'splurge' on just a tiny bottle...2 mls or so... or even a diluted Neroli. But I'd want to get samples to make sure I was getting the 'real thing'...not a codistillation. In my experience, every codistillation I've experienced has smelled like petitgrain, not Neroli...the one that DID smell like Neroli turned out (after testing) to... have things it in that shouldn't be found in a true codistillation. another thought... some of the conifers can be both relaxing/de-stressing (Black Spruce) or really jubilant/exultant... Grande Fir... Melissa has the uplifting effect you want...but compared to it, Neroli is a BARGAIN Your source for superb Essential Oils, Aromatherapy Accessories, Information, Books and more!
