Josephene-

I am not Chris, but yes adding the tears to a charcoal is

a good method. Light the charcoal and place it in the burner,

add the tears a few at a time.

Thanks Janet,

I went to the health food store and bought some. Do I just let it burn

untill the charcoal is all used up? If I want to stop burning it how do I

do that?

Thanks,

Josephene

Josephene-

You are most welcome.

I just let it burn, to put it out I would cover the burner with a bowl to

close off the oxygen. Someone else might have a different suggestion.

I would not douse it with water. Put in a pinch I suppose you could.

Put some sand in the bottom of the burner ... light the charcoal, let it

get hot (you'll see a light ash over the coal). The you place a tear or

two of the resin on the coal and let it smolder. You may want to knock

the blackened resin off the coal before you put fresh tears on to

prevent an acrid burnt smell.

Well, if you are indoors, that might be a lot of smoke actually. Usually

I break my coal in half for indoor use ...

I usually just let it burn out .. but if you need to put it out in a

hurry .. squirt it with some water rom a spray bottle (warning .. can be

messy)

Hi Josephene :)

Two reasons I say this .. One was I noticed that you said you had a

terra cotta burner .. and just in my personal experience .. any incense

burner I have that isn't metal I put sand in the bottom of it . See,

sand absorbs the heat .. so you can even have a container that is not

really heat proof .. like a clay flower pot, put sand in the bottom and

it can handle the heat of a charcoal, whereas if you would have put it

directly onto the clay pot it would shatter from the heat .....

Also, many incense burners, for whatever reason, are designed too deep,

and the coal goes out prematurely cause there is not enough air

circulation .. the sand help raise the coal in the pot to a higher

level, where there is more air circulating and it burns better if that

is the case ...
