Guest guest
Butch, Thank You for this post. I had mentioned the test in a post concerning one of my kids(a dog). The vet told us about 2 months ago that she had cancer (mast cell stage 3). He did not feel that treatment would be a choice. We both of course disagreed with him, and decided to do some of our own research on complimentary medicine choices. Someone on the list mentioned this study so we have been using Oregano in part of her program. We have seen some great changes. I'm keeping very accurate records of what we are doing and will keep all informed. Sandi
Guest guest
Hi y'all, A couple of weeks ago somebody (I think Effie maybe) asked about the experiment conducted using Oregano (Origanum onites) in treating lung tumors in rats. I did mean to answer but got behind the power curve and didn't save the post. Anyway .. the facts are: The test was conducted at the Medicinal and Aromatic Plant and Drug Research Center in Eskisehir, Turkey. Professor Dr. K. Husnu Can Baser and 4 other professors conducted all phases. A series of lab tests were conducted, after a period of time, it was determined that there was justification to do animal testing, so twelve adult Wistar albino rats of both sexes were acquired. The test was to determine the inhibitory effects of carvacrol on DMBA induced pulmonary tumorigenesis in rats. Cancer was induced in the lungs of each of the rats. The rats were put into three groups of four each. The first group received no treatment - the second group was treated with standard antitumor agent, Colchicine. The third group was treated with Carvacrol, essential oil of Origanum onites L., in a base of neutral sterile olive oil. The lungs of all of the rats developed tumor-like dark red and brown spots. By six days, all the untreated rats had died and one of the rats in the second group (treated by conventional anti-cancer treatments) had died. All the rats were put to sleep and examined with a microscope. The second group has considerable evidence of slowing of tumor development. In the third group (the group treated with carvacrol) there was evidence of complete loss of tumor development. In fact, tumorial activity had ceased and the lung tissue was repairing itself. The study concluded that carvacrol possessed antitumor activities on lungs induced by DMBA, and determined that FURTHER STUDY is required. Again, this is not a recommendation and I cannot give more details on this study ... it is known to many in the scientific community but has not been published for some reasons I won't go into now. I have the colored micro-slides .. they are quite clear. I gave a briefing on this at the IATA conference in Toronto in 1999 .. and had planned to do it again at the NAHA conference in June 2002, but as you all know .. I have declined to participate in that conference. Y'all keep smiling, Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
