Guest guest
Yo Sandi, > Butch, > Good information for all of us. Thanks for passing this on. : ) > Sandi Welcome you are .. I've been looking for a Geranium/Pelargonium expert for a long time .. can't find one. I look for experts in universities - not in the industry of aromatherapy or the fragrance industry. We can check local universities and find such folks. Here in Turkey .. we have a laundry list of Professors who at one time in their early careers specialized in a particular genus and wrote tons on it. But often its not in English and when it is, most folks don't know how to acquire it. We have THE Origanum expert here - Dr. Professor Baser, and THE Rosa damascena expert .. his assistant who is a lady, Dr. Assistant Professor Mine. But I have found no highly-educated persons who call themselves expert when it comes to Geranium or Pelargonium. There are some who claim expertise .. some who write the novels .. and one smug soul who writes a bunch on Idma who sees themself as being an expert on most everything .. which tells us a lot more than the writings ... ;-p Y'all keep smiling, Butch http://www.AV-AT.com > > Now .. don't believe everything I wrote .. ;-p But believe this: > > > > Rose Geranium (Bourbon) .. Guest guest
Thanks Butch for the info on Worwood's book. Naturally, I had received it the day before your post!!!!! LOL. At least I know it is not a reliable book and won't take it seriously. Blessings and love, Smilin Effie > >If you are using Worwood's book to try to compile a collection of info >on EOs, you got a rough job cut out for you .. especially when it comes >to the Geraniums or Pelargoniums .. fact is, I think somewhere she even >lists Geranium as a mineral .. ;-) And she rarely discusses species or >types of the P. graveolens. > > >
Guest guest
Effie, I don't want to speak for Butch, but I am almost sure he has said positive things about Worwood in the past, particularly Fragrant Mind. I think what he is saying, and I agree, is that Worwood's books don't offer a lot of info on individual oils, like quality, chemical makeup, etc., so it is hard to use them to decide what to buy. She doesn't distinguish between different chemotypes, etc., so you need a much more comprehensive resource to help you know that you are getting a quality oil. I like Worwood's books for the recipe ideas and the synergistic blends that I can use as remedies at a moment's notice without researching to death if time is of the essence. Butch, please jump in here and tell me if I am on target with this. I think Worwood has her place, but if you are trying to use her books as your only reference, it is impossible. Guest guest
Thanks, Debra, for your post. I haven't really had a chance to read much of Worwood's book as yet. I do have others that have been recommended and are more thorough. I certainly appreciate your feed-back.
