Guest guest
Okay folks, I have my ideas, but I want to see yours .. I just sliced my right index finger open quite nicely and deeply with a sharp kitchen knife - think I MAY see bone ... But with only me and my sleeping 2 yr old here, and heavy snow .... going out to the doc is no option unless one of us (God/dess forbid) is dying .... So, I have ideas as I said, but I'm wondering, what do y'all do for this kind of thing? ... I know .. cayenne pepper powder helps clotting, gonna try it in a sec as direct pressure is doing nothing once I remove the pressure .... *Been Smiling Bigger* Chris (list mom) Goodies Galore http://www.alittleolfactory.com
Guest guest
Hi Chris, That sounds very painful :-(( Do you have any yarrow ? Either fresh or as a tea, will stop the bleeding - EO might, but I've never used it on cuts. Also - I always put honey (pure, unfiltered ... but you'd know that !) on cuts too - stops plasma leakage. For healing the cut, I'd use helichrysum in hypericum - and nothing else to begin with - they'll help the wound bind together & join it up - you'll need to make sure you've got covering on it that's going to hold the wound sides together enough to bond without cutting off circulation. Keep it wrapped as long as you can without disturbing it so that you don't undo any new cell growth by pulling it apart again. After a couple of day, I'd start adding lavender and calendula to the dressing, then comfrey once you're sure it's healed over and there' s no infection. And actually - with some of the things I've been grabbing rose for, I'd probably add that in at all stages of healing. Hope this helps ! Blessings, Jane :-)) Chris Ziegler wrote: >Okay folks, > >I have my ideas, but I want to see yours .. Guest guest
Oh dear!! I nearly voiced my cringe at your mention of cayenne & open wounds, but figured it would be too late by the time I posted !! Guess you can't do much but laugh that one off - they say it's the best medicine *lol* Yarrow doesn't hurt nearly as much !!! Guest guest
Righthanded typing sounds like a definite no-no for a while ! Glad to hear you've got yarrow. Not surprised ;-) *sends healing vibes to Chris's finger & disappears back to the Lurkorium* Chris Ziegler wrote: >Thank you dear! Guest guest
Chris, Glad to see that you got the bleeding stopped. I have in the past had great results with Cistus in stopping bleeding, less painful than pepper. Hope all is ok now. Guest guest
Sorry to hear about your accident. My mom used to use flour on us kids when we cut ourselves. Of course, she didn't have the advantages we do with herbs and oils. If you have any butterfly strips, they would help hold it together. Hope you get along okay and sorry to hear you are getting snowed in again. We have been so lucky here in north Iowa. Have only shoveled a couple times so far. Suppose to get a mix tonight and tomorrow. Blessings and love, Effie Chris Ziegler <chrisziggy1 Monday, March 18, 2002 10:07 PM Deep Cuts >Okay folks, > >I have my ideas, but I want to see yours ..
