Guest guest
Hello All, Venturing into the unknown I bravely battled my kitchen and endevored into making soap, it is molding looks great, smells wonderful- So proud OK so I used M & P but I did infuse my own herbs.Besides none of you want to hear on the news about the woman who set herself on fire using lye, Still as I look at the shapes ready to be unmolded I cannot help to reflect that I HATE IT!!! The process moves too fast, melt melt stir defoam, hurry hurry, its like cooking breakfast(which I hate too) turn the eggs, put the toast on keep the pancakes warm UGGGH - only 2 hands and I just don't move that fast. I am Italian when I cook measurements are pinches and handfuls not cups and tsp. So that would be my soap making project and I will proudly present them to my family, because I will NOT buy another bar of soap until they use all of it Emryldgea

That counts, no doubt > Besides none of you want to hear on the news about the woman > who set herself on fire using lye Yes, I use lye often, even working on the bucket and hopper so I can make my own from ashes .. BUT .. ya gotta be careful with it . then again, ya gotta be careful with boiling water and hot frying oil too! Please, don't be scared of making soap from scratch one day cause you need to use lye to do it > Still as I look at the shapes > ready to be unmolded I cannot help to reflect that I HATE IT!!! AH! Well, I teach M & P classes at my local Michael's craft store, so maybe I can give you a few pointers ..... First pointer is to be sure to have everything you're going to want to use ready and on hand and even measured before you begin The process moves too fast, Heat your M & P with the added liquid on the stove top in a double boiler, covered, and when it is about 80%-90% melted, turn off the heat and let it melt the rest of the way on its own > melt melt stir Nah, just melt, turn off heat and stir *LOL* > defoam, Teacher's trade secret for defoaming M & P ..... pour your M & P into its molds , then with a fine mist sprayer .. spray a quick spritz of rubbing alcohol over the foam bubbles and they will disappear > hurry hurry, its like > cooking breakfast(which I hate too) turn the eggs, put the toast on > keep the pancakes warm UGGGH - only 2 hands and I just don't move > that fast. Hehehehehe, well I hope the tips I just gave you help out a little ..... > I am Italian when I cook measurements are pinches and > handfuls not cups and tsp.
