Guest guest
I'm in northern Arizona - - tonight it's supposed to get down to 9 degrees, the humidity outside is a whopping 7%, inside my house it is a grand 37%. I've had a water distiller running and a pot of water simmering on my stove all day, and am still shocking myself on everything I touch! My cp soaps are curing in less than 3 weeks. Anybody wanna trade some moisture for some dry?!? Jonee Takin' it Easy in Winslow, Arizona

Guest guest
Jonee, I grew up on the coast of Texas, in Corpus Christi. On any given day, the humidity is at least 75%. In the summer, it's 100% every day. Imagine walking into a sauna when you step out your door. That's what humidity mixed with heat is like. It's anywhere from 90- 110 degrees everyday in the summer time. You basically are a sweatball if you leave the air conditioning of your house/office/car. Now up in Austin where I've lived for awhile now, the humidity isn't as high. The summers aren't as bad, but ya still sweat a lot!! I lived up in Ft Collins CO for 5 yrs, and that was pretty neat, to have heat without sweat. Heck we didn't even have a/c in our house! Just stuck a box fan in the window at night, and then closed the windows during the day to keep the cold air in. Guest guest
Do we get wind? LOL! A few years ago we had 93 mph, our neighbor's trampoline blew across 5 acres and slammed into our swamp cooler on the side of our house and finally stopped 50 yards away, next to the road. Next day we had a foot of snow, so I suppose it was worth it - but I had dirt everywhere in this house (until then I thought it was pretty airtight)! Our spring seasons are horribly windy - in fact, most all of the trees in town lean to the northeast. We get whitecaps in our toilets, it's crazy! I could take a bath in bath oil and still be dry. I know humidity can be a problem, but this extreme dryness is killer, too! Thanks everyone, for the water particles, every contribution is gratefully appreciated.. Jonee PS We're 60 miles east of Flag... > Yep I was just in Flag and Tucson and my skin is still dry dry dry... > It was beautiful, though- Flag was WINDY- do you get the winds in winslow? > sending you some water particles > Michelle
Guest guest
*LOL* you must be an AZ native, huh? I'm from NYC originally and now live in the Denver Metro Area of Colorado .... Hmmm, " What is humidity like? " .... Lets put it this way .... in the summer in NY when the Triple H's come into the forecast (no, not the wrestler .. Hazy, Hot and Humid) you'd take a shower, and by the time your hair dried ... you'd be sweating again! You'd want to sleep above your covers at night .. I mean inches above the covers .. wishing you could levitate! Here in Colorado in the summer I don't have A/C in the house .. and even on the hottest summer days, the summer nights are so cool that I just put a box fan in the window at night and am so cold by morning that I need my comforter on the bed still! Close the windows, keep in the cool air for the day The sun here is brutal, but stay in the shade and it makes all the difference The lack of humidity does make for a less " green " local ecosystem, but with that we also have a lot less bugs, that are a lot smaller too! Slugs here don't reach a size that could folks dine on (they are just homeless escargots in NYC) .. and although we do have dangerous little spiders out here like black widows and brown recluse .. in Upstate NY I've seen what I call New England Wild Tarantulas .. a.k.a. wolf spiders - OH! and we get almost no skeeters here (but we also have no fireflies WAAH) Ah well, I miss dreary, cloudy, rainy days ... and I miss lush thickets of green forest, but I don't miss humidity! *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com vikingmama1978 wrote: > I'm in northern Arizona - - tonight it's supposed to get down to 9 > degrees, the humidity outside is a whopping 7%, inside my house it is > a grand 37%. Guest guest
I moved from KY to S. Florida in " 73 " at that time I was 32 years old and still thought I couldn't go out of the house without , as Butch says, forty-eleven pounds of make-up on. I arrived at night in May which was warm but not too bad. The next morning I got up, put on my forty-eleven pounds of makeup, and went to look for a job. This was my first visit to the " hot-box " of the south, although I had been in almost every other state in the union, and by the time I had gone a block my makeup had started to melt! I turned around, went home and washed my face, and from that day on I have never worn make up! LOL Now, whenever I try to pat a little powder on my face to cut the shine of my oily skin, I usually wind up washing it off. Feels like mud caked on my face! I walked in there one day and it was like an oven! but it was dry! and her candy turned out beautifuly. LOL Deonia > >
