Guest guest
Hi Butch...almost sounds like it is a virus worm...just to be sure, go to http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/start_pcc.asp and run HouseCall (TrendMicro.com provides this as a free online virus scanner and it repairs them too, if possible). Helen Long in Florida - Butch Owen Monday, February 18, 2002 1:55 AM OT: PC Problems Again Hey y'all, Danged email (Communicator) has goofed up again .. I'm back to using my old dinasaur (Navigator). If I try to hit New Mail, Reply, Reply All or Forward, all I get is a mail block at the bottom of the screen. It won't open so I can't reply using it. It won't close so I gotta do a Control-Alt-Delete. First I noticed of a problem was when I tried to build a new file folder this morning .. it wouldn't take more than 7-8 letters and then the dang machine went into some kinda search mode. Searching files! It was running slower'n molasses in February so I defragged .. also did a virus scan. Still, it seems like its trying to read something somewhere. On Navigator, I can clear my Memory Cache and Disk Cache by going into Options and then Netword Preferences .. got no idea how to do this in Communicator. Anybody got any ideas what might be wrong> I hate PCs .. really I do .. ;-{ Butch http://www.AV-AT.com

You do this in much the same way/place in Communicator .... edit - preferences - advanced - cache .... & there's a check box each for disk & memory cache. > > > Anybody got any ideas what might be wrong> > > I hate PCs .. really I do .. ;-{ yeah yeah we *all* hate PCs *lol* Jane :-)) > Butch http://www.AV-AT.com -- http://www.phoenixrose.com/scentsorium Phoenix Rose Scentsorium - Healing that makes Scents
Guest guest
Hi Butch, My husband just e-mailed you a Trojan scanner (which checks for things that antivirus doesn't look for). You should run it. If you have any questions for him, you can e-mail him at steve - he is a Networking Administrator so ask away...
