Guest guest
Hi Selket, > Hi Butch, thanks for the information, it's nice to know ALL the facts. Welcome you are .. I guess it would be nice to know all the facts. Wish I did too .. :-9 > But this is also a fact (well in my particular case anyway), not everyone > can afford to pay for the " real " thing, which is why we have a Marshall > Fields and a Target. Believe me, if I could afford it, I would buy it. Well .. ;-p I can get along just fine with a Walmart Knights Bridge shirt. Don't gotta have Arrow or those better. And I can get along well with a Chevy instead of a Lincoln Town Car .. and even generic orange juice instead of the brand name .. all will do the job without harming me. If I was a soap maker .. and inclined to use FOs instead of EO, I could do well with the cheapest stuff in town long as it smelled good and didn't give me or others a rash. But if I am going to be sniffing or diffusing or making a blend for the skin out of a natural product .. I gotta be sure as I can that it is a quality product cause garbage can harm me. Considering the difference betwixt $18 or so and $9 or so for a product that will last a long time in the first place, I'd go with the one I could be sure was quality. If I used one unit of that product a week as a matter of routine .. I'd take a look at alternatives .. but this is not the case. I had a kilo of the finest Certified Organic Corsican Helichrysum italicum I have ever seen. I kept telling folks I had but one kilo and could not get anymore this year. Its all gone now .. I can't get anymore until the next distillation season. So .. am I gonna sell a different one now? Not no but hell no! Why? Because I haven't found one that can replace what I had and I won't offer less. It doesn't fit my modus operandi .. but trying to get folks to stick with high quality in other oils does fit it .. ;-9 I'm telling you this because it is a philosophy for increasing the margin of safety whilst using natural products .. it is not a sales pitch because I don't have any Vanilla to offer and if Chris is gonna run a co-op soon, I don't plan to offer any .. when I do offer it, it will cost more than her co-op because I will have to sit on the product till it sells .. she will buy the amount of product that she presales .. big difference that is. > And since (in my case) it is just for my personal use and as long as > the " knock offs " don't pose a health threat then it is all good for me. Yep .. IF all the above is the case and the Great Everywhere Spirit is smiling on you, it'll be fine.. ;-p Again, its a matter of philosophy and how lucky we feel we are. Even when I was a real young and real poor dude working part-time jobs for $1.50 an hour while still a young soldier with a family .. I bought premium grade motor oil for my older car instead of the cheaper bulk stuff that all service stations sold. It was a matter of me believing that the financial downside of needing a major engine overhaul could be worse than the quarter saved on a quart of motor oil. I feel the same way about essential oils ... IF they are to be used for therapeutic reasons. If you are making soap .. you have no real need to buy the high-quality oils .. anyone who is used to using FOs can certainly get by with the lower quality commercial grade EOs .. or even slightly adulterated EOs .... like the 40/42 lavender that is expressly made for the perfume trade. :-) > It's nice to have these options. Selket Yes it is .. but if you are planning to use a natural product for personal health care reasons .. your options are really limited. :-( Y'all keep smiling, Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
