Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I feel like I need to introduce myself again, b/c I haven't posted in a while and the list has been so active! Marilyn may remember me, as I am a fellow spiller when it comes to orafice reducers, lol! But I joined this list b/c I make bath salts and body scrubs and was hoping to have some great conversations about using eo's -- but I've gotten a lot more than I have bargained for! Thanks for a great list about so many wonderful things! A couple of questions: I am interested in becoming a certfied aromatherapist. Is anyone certified? How'd ya do it? Any suggestions or advice? I haven't had much luck finding a program and frankly I'm not sure where to look! Also, has anyone dealt with Essential Oil University? How do you find their oils? Thanks and I hope to be more active soon! Debbie deb http://www.bodyhealthcenter.com
Guest guest
Hello > I am interested in becoming a certfied aromatherapist. Is anyone certified? Yes, and there are quite a few " certificate " courses out there- but they dont mean anything legally...some of them give a good foundation in the chemistry of aromatic hydrocarbons and their effect on humans physiologically...but much info is also controversial. I am a massage therapist and used oils long before I knew much about them. I worked at a spa that used Kurt Schnaubelts oil and he did staff education, which started my interest in the chemistry...I had taken college Anatomy and physiology which helps, too......then I took the course through the Pacific Institute of aromatherapy - which I liked and learned a lot from...but some dont like this course... there are others- like Sylla's Atlantic Institute- but personally I enjoyed studying with someone who had a scientific background- since I already was a certified massage therapist, had taken several herb classes and had an " intuitive " connection with the oils... thats my rant Also, has anyone dealt > with Essential Oil University? How do you find their oils? I use many oils from Rob Pappas- he does a lot of the GC testing for other US companies- and he has some good stuff..IMO Michelle > Thanks and I hope to be more active soon! > Debbie > deb > http://www.bodyhealthcenter.com > > > > How To Make Rose Petal Jam - Step By Step Instructions > http://www.av-at.com/stuff/rosejam.html > >
Guest guest
Hiya Deb, Of course I remember you ( moreso everytime I spill eo's on myself! lol) is it really " just " us????? As for certification, there are many, many online one's if you do a search - BUT, and here's the rub... certification isn't recognized here... soooooooo, the point to it all? Learning.. period. Another source of study. I'd say the two best-known are the Pacific Institute and the Atlantic Institute, are they the best? They both have their good points.........and there are some BAD one's out there... Most of us that are certified and there's nothing " wrong " with being certified have taken some or other course to get that way. I feel I was lucky since I had a one-on-one teacher, both for herbal and aromatherapy.........but IF you live near this type of teaching, IF the person will agree, IF you've got the $$'s.........and can do the assignments... you get the picture and nope, nobody shows you how not to spill the oils.. lolol (I think they spill in secret, personally......)!!!!! And my courses seemed to go on forever, but I did thoroughly enjoy them. And learned a lot. What to do and what not to do. Taking it from there, I guess I'll always be a student since you're never done learning.........! Good luck Hugs, Marilyn Debra McDuffee wrote: > Hi Everyone, > > I feel like I need to introduce myself again, b/c I haven't posted in a > while and the list has been so active! Guest guest
Debra I took Jeanne Rose correspondence course. She combines aromatherapy and herbalism. The National Association of Holistic Aromatherapy has a website www.naha.org that list correspondence courses that meet their recommended guidelines. Both Kurt's and Sylla's classes are listed on their. I think they link with their websites??? There is no national certification but you can be certified through some course. I hope this helps! ~Tricia - " Debra McDuffee " <deb Friday, January 18, 2002 3:54 PM hi and questions > Hi Everyone, > > I feel like I need to introduce myself again, b/c I haven't posted in a > while and the list has been so active! Guest guest
Hi Michelle.. all, Don't you have to be a registered NAHA member " in full " to advertise with them? Could be that Kurt is not? BTW, his books and courses are excellent, IMHO. Hugs, Marilyn Michelle Morton-niyama wrote: > See whats funny is, Kurts- last I checked- ISNT on there- > now why is that?
