Guest guest
I will ell you a better book, it is called Unification of W.M & T.C.M. it has reinterprated TCM into a western way of thinking without losnig any of its essence. This will be the future of TCM and as it must not conflict with modern science. Regards Manu skip8080 <skip8080 wrote: Lingzhi , and all; I picked up a great book, in Nanjing. Guest guest
Hi Manu, >This will be the future of TCM and as it must not conflict with modern >science. > First, I believe, WM must reconcile all of its own internal contradictions. It is difficult to " integrate " with something that is in conflict with itself. Exactly, what is being integrated with what? Qigong with plastic surgery? I am a TCM-acupuncture student here in Brazil, glad for the opportunity to be around in these discussions. Hi there Manu, your comment about TCM and modern science got me thinking; Why must TCM not conflict with modern science? Modern science is still building up its knowledge of the world and of man, every year we see new theories in this or that field, new concepts, new explanations, new holes to be filled, explained or ignored as m.science struggles to explain the world in its own(science's)way. I mean that science has not the claim to the last word yet, it still has some way to go before it can claim to have ALL the answers, so why should TCM not make the same claim, that MS not conflict WITH IT(after all, it gets results that western medicine sometimes cannot)? I'm curious to see how this book manages to marry TCM and MS, they are poles apart, but maybe the problem really is just the different focus: while one looks at microbes, the other looks to the conditions that will foster or inhibit them(xu of wei-qi or strong zheng-qi), and an equating of terminology will help take care of that. Guest guest
Hi Lingzhi No I am not Chinese, I am from New Zealand, I am a white male and that is why I am interested in the whole westernized version TCM. Yes I have been studying TCM for years and I struggled with the concepts for quite a while. Because of theis experience I can see this problem from a Western perspcetive, I know how hard it is for a westerner to initially grasp the concepts of TCM. The problems is people who are already trained in TCM or from the culture find it very easy to understand and they expect it to be simple for other people, this is certainly not the case. I was just amazed at how clear this book made TCM for me as despite years of study already, I had never really understood many of the concepts however until I read this book I though I did. Now this is one of the major problems where so many westerners think they understand the theory and end up creating theiry own interpratation of it.
