Hi Z'ev...

I had Tiande Yang write a formula for me that was remarkably helpful

and I listened in as one of our senior supervisors who follow Dr Yang

remarked on her appreciation for the blessing of his teaching. After she left,

he

said to me " my suffering is the patient who doesn't respond to my treatments. "

From the Buddhist perspective, people are sick due to karma and have the

poisons of greed, anger, and stupity and a false sense of self.

Then there is stress which can compromise one's immune system, not getting

enough sleep for a good period of time, not dressing more warmly when the

weather gets cold, and my personal favorite: People walking around with wet

hair and complaining of headaches.

The list is endless..............................................

Robert and Ming,

You miss the entire point of the RHETORICAL question.

This was a question posed by my GrandFather (a practitioner of over 80 years at

the time of his death). It was addressed to an arrogant MD but could as well

have been addressed to members of the TCM profession. Too often people claim a

superiority for their type of medicine. (ie Alopathic medicine is useless and a

fraud... TCM is the only worthwhile form of medicine ...)

OK -asked my Zaide- if your system of medicine is so great and superior why has

it not cured all of humankind?

and if your answer is one pointed at the patients role in their own healing

then why have you not educated them, after all your system is so superior....

The Rombom said it is not possible for a succesful doctor to enter heaven.

Why one asks. A doctor who has succesfuly cured so much pain and suffering

should be assured heaven.

But a doctor who is succesful begins to forget that all of our skills and arts

and knowledge and we ourselves are no more than tools in the hands of G-d.

The healing does not come from us it comes from the universal source (i choose

to call Ha Shem or G-d)

Amen to that!

IMO, the best healers are those who are wise / humble enough to

know that they know nothing in comparison to the wisdom & love of

G-d.

Whether we are aware of it or not, we are G-d's Healing Hands in

this world. We point the finger, or needle, use the scalpel, or give

the herbal / homeopathuc formula, or manipulate the vertebra, and

G-d / Nature does the rest.

G-d's Will be done, and Blessed be G-d forever, regardless of the

" clinical outcome " in our eyes.

Hi

I see myself as a facilitator for healing, deep down it is still my clients'

choice whether they want to be " healed " or not, and only when they are ready

does the true healing take place. Some people love their misery, it's a

nice crutch to hold on to.

Hi Doc,

Thank you for point this out, but still I thought it's kind of fun answering the

question this way. Nevertheless, I am inspired by the rhetorical question to

share a conclusion from observations that I've made from my personal experiences

treating patients.

Although we can do our best to treat our patients, provide them with the most

comprehensive health information available, and give our patients the best care

with our best intentions and skills and diagnosis, the patients will ultimately

decide what's the best for them. Their decision are not necessarily the most

accurate reflection of the quality of care that we provide, because the patients

themselves are limited by their level of understanding of the information we

provided and their level of commitment in following our advise. We can tell our

patients to give up tennis until the inflammed elbow healed, but some patients

will go out and play tennis anyway. We tell patients not drink Pepsi, and they

go home and finish a 12-pack within an hour. I am sure that each of us here in

this group has his/her own personal examples. Patients will do what they do

despite the volumes of information and care that we provided: Ultimately, they

decide what's best for themselves, and

sometimes they chose to ignore good advises and stay happily with their bad

habits. There are limits to what we can accomplish for each patient, and the

limiting factors do not rest solely on the healers. Healing is an interative

process between healer and patient.
