Guest guest
John, I agree. I just bought a laser and have been using it in practice for a few months and am finding it to be very effective. I think vibrationally it works on same principles as does qigong if you think of the practitioner as a diode directing coherent energy. There has been some research into photon emmissions from qigong healers. I don't think we should get so traditional and dogmatic about TCM to the exclusion of science and helping people however naturally. I think that the beauty of TCM is its holistic and vibrational paradigm, when science embraces this, as in laser therapy and functional medicine for example, I think there is enormous potential to help people harmlessly. I think the paradigm is the key moreso than the tools one uses in clinic. Biological induction- a small nudge that allows the body to cascade toward higher function, can be acheived by many modalities. It is nature that heals afterall...we just catalyze. Let me ask you this and anyone else with laser experience...I read recently in Darryn Starwin's acupuncture today article on lasers that the originator of colorpuncture (which uses light in the visible spectrum that is non-coherent as opposed to lasers) (and I forget his name-he's german) proposes that lasers " blow out " the subtle circuitry of acupuncture points. I don't know what this means or why he thinks this. Why would it be any more harmful than elecric stim as far as " blowing out " circuitry? Also, have you ever treated guillan barre syndrome with laser? Guest guest
I use light acupuncture by 5 E circuitry to good effect. I use the set made by Perlux Farbunktur Nach Peter Mandel which is simple and has the whole range of lights. Incidentally I have used up both the light bulbs and find it difficult to replace these. Guest guest
Nicole- I don't know about " blowing out " the effectiveness of acup. pts. with lasers; to the contrary, I was awed by the fact that laser light shown on acup. points proves with technology what ancient texts said about the same points stimulated with just needles and moxa. Lasers will open up an entire new group:the kids. Kids fear needles, and no amount of coaxing wil get them into the TCM fold. But if their parents see the kids will not be harmed by lasers, and can be charged less, since a laser tx. with 1/2 Watt lasers can take as little as 2-3 minutes, we may have a whole new generation becoming accustomed to acupuncture. After all, people nowadays don't mind having lasers blasted into their eyeballs! Let me know how it goes with you. Thanks- John --- nicolehohmann <nicolehohmann wrote: > John, > I agree. Guest guest
Hi: in reference to the bulbs to be used by Perlux pen of Peter Mandel I found some similar bulbs with the same voltage in a light store here in Miami. The only thing is that they don't last as much as the originals. Guest guest
I have a little success w Laser Ac too but haven't given it enough clinic use. It is helpful in the syndrome where skin is overly sensitive, up to pain level, where even gentle massage is risky. I also have a set of colored diodes that I put into penlight size tubes, and orange and black light diodes. The pure frequency coherent light diodes specs do show that they have a small amount of noncoherent spill above and beyond the advertized wavelength, so a wider spectrum non coherent color is something I want to test for a bit. The red coherent laser is the standard tho. Another subject is, these machines often use standard industrial parts. Not usually rare one of a kind poducts, except coil winding maybe, so, if one looks at them and can understand the markings, or takes them to a good electronics tech, repair can often be done. In a maternity ward, a newborn w a high bilirubin count was held a day to recieve 'special' light treatment to reduce the count. I looked at the light panel, and the flourescent tubes were hardware store westinghouse 60 watt, office-type tubes. The old way of exposing the babies to sunlight made better sense. Even if it is cold, you canput them in the window light. Guest guest
Nicole - What a surprise to see your name pop up on this list... Ray Rubio here in Los Angeles. I have referred a few folks to you out there in Chicago, but I am still a little bit confused as to the correct office number(s) to give them. Could you please email off-list (rtoo) with the correct numbers and address so that I can make sure they get to you? Thanks. Hope all is going well. Ray. Guest guest
I have a laser which I use for myself and my family, I got it from Russia where these units are used a lot in clinics. The results are mixed, in some cases when I use it on others (friends...) and myself, it does not seem to produce the desired effect, and some other conditions are resolved quickly. In Russia there were a lot of tests and clinical experiments proving lasers effective so I use it. It definitely is pain-free and so is child and adult-friendly. I am still not sure about the legal side of using laser in clinic here in New York. If someone knows, could you let me know? Alexander Zide. Guest guest
You should join an IRB (Independent Review Board) which will give the right to use your laser on a " supervised basis. " The FDA takes a dim view of lasers (and anything else that helps people), so, you can use thelaser, but just cover your legal " bases.
