Guest guest
A long time now I have been studying how the so-called Occidental elements of earth air fire and water, fit in with the oriental system of heeling. Indeed, the Taoist elements of wood, metal, etc are far more commonly used in oriental systems of heeling rather than the Buddhist elements of earth and air fire and water. Recently a friend recently mentioned that he had seen a book that used. The elements of earth, air fire and water in a oriental system including their correspond to the meridians. He was however unable to remember the title of the book or the author. I wonder if anyone here can help me find this book or indeed any book that features the aforementioned elements. .. Yours sincerely, Anton Temple

One could see these as mapping into each other. In the Tibetan variation, as understood by some, metal is air, blue (water is black). This was conveyed to me years ago by Gil Milner, who studied both Tibetan and Chinese medicine in those respective countries (and was earlier an Air Force psychiatrist). In the dying process (in the Bardo Thotrol -- the Great Liberation, known in English as the Tibetan Book of the Dead). the state of experiencing earth (weight/motility) melts into experiencing water; water melts into a state of fire; fire melts into air; and this experience of air melts into pure mind (if you're lucky). (This last would map then to wood, as Hun perhaps.) Note the whole is a dissolution process through the Ko/control cycle as known in TCM.
