I have had several clients say they saw this technique on TV and would like it done. Please help! " Dr. Joseph Monticello Dear Dr. Monticello, I've been doing face-lift acupuncture off and on for 2 yrs now. we learned it as an extra course while in school. we were taught the needling techniques, facial massage, and beneficial chinese herbs for improving skin and overall health. we were not taught the electro-acupuncture aspect of it. i believe most acu face-lift devices on the market are microcurrent. i decided to get the milli-amperage electo-stem and facial probes. have used it on two people so far and i must say this has really improved results! you see a much quicker improvement of facial muscle tone, wrinkles and complexion. it is really amazing! one patient has many deep wrinkles and it it really smoothing her skin out and her complexion looks wonderful! i would highly recommend using electro-stem with the other steps of facelift acu. downside: 1.you have to be very careful around the eyes and other bony areas as there will be much more sensitivity and have to turn the dial down lower. 2. it is extremely tedious work and you get to know every single wrinkle and sag, scar and imperfection on a person's face, most likely more than the patient knows their own face. reminds me of my dental hygeine years, working so closely in the mouth scaping of plaque in every little crevice and corner:)) The Upside: good results and the satisfaction of knowing you helped someone to feel better about themselves.ex: like having a patient call you up after only the second visit to tell you they have been crying they are so happy in seeing such a difference in thier face. she expressed that she is beginning to look on the outside how she feels on the inside; still young at heart:) just thought i'd share this with you and hope it helps. oh also if it is done properly, it will not comprimise patients health. there are several contraindications, and yet some of these are questionable and i say this because i have an acupuncture friend in florida who also practices face-lift acu. one of her patients had ongoing headaches. not sure of the cause or type, but she told me that face-lift acu had actually 'helped' her patients headaches. they went away all together..go figure. i would like to learn more cosmetic acupuncture especially if it helps improve the persons health at the same time! the gentleman/or lady that mentioned he/she teaches this, along with other acupuncture cosmetic proceedures such as cellulite reductions, etc, please let me know if you are going to teach somewhere around arizona thanks, M. Guest guest
Hi Myers, Great post. Can you give the make and model of the electro-stem machine please. There was a great article on facial rejuvenation in the JCM a few issues back. A good read. In there it was mentioned that the needles are inserted into typical acupoints on the face. Also plum-blossom needling can be used for the saggy bits, i.e. under the chin. However, I was unaware that each and every wrinkle had to have a needle in it. Can anyone talk about the principle of facial rejuvenation a little more? Kind regards Attilio melanie myers [joyspirited] 06 September 2004 22:34 Chinese Medicine Re: Digest Number 635,face lift face lift " Has anyone used acupuncture face lifts.
