Guest guest
I agree that there are a few web sites out there that are a little questionable in there cancer cure, but I will say this, I deal with a lot of cancer patients and it makes me sick to see the way they are pumped up with chemo and burned like a BBQ with radiation. I mean come on, when the Doctor tells them they only have a few months to live, go home and kiss everyone good-bye, get your things in order..... want does it hurt to try alternative ways. NO ONE has the right to tell you how you want to treat your disease. If the Western Medicine doesn't work or the chemo kills them no one gets upset, but if someone tries alternative medicine and they die then it was the herbs or whatever that killed them not the disease. Come on people we live in a free country and we should have the right to choose what ever treatment we choose. I personally would not spend my last few months throwing up, diarrhea, feeling like crap, but that's what they are offered, chemo the last few months that is not going to extend there life's but only make them wish that they where died. No one has the cure for cancer, but we can help the patient feel better and help the immune system get stronger. That is the compassion of medicine. Guest guest
I completely agree with you here Dr Spohn. There is no one single way to cure cancer, but approaching it from many different angles is the most likely to succeed. Nutrition, heat, oxygen etc as well as drugs if they are shown to be successful (Many are not). Chemo should only be used on a relatively well person and too often it is used on a patient who is too ill to withstand the poison and the chemo kills them (I have seen this many times). It is a great pity that the WM does not take nutrition more seriously as I have read that more cancer patients die of malnutrition than anything else (I will provide a reference for this if anyone other than Jason expresses a desire to see it). It is also worth noting that Ernzt, the man who produced the original paper that the Times article was based on and which was posted by Attilio is renowned for slamming any type of CAM - he is the Jason B of the academic world (sorry Jason, but the similarities are so strong!) and so his paper should not be taken as gospel as it will undoubtedly be skewed by his prejudices. I would recommend that anyone interested in WM and CAM in relation to cancer should go to www.cancerdecisions.com and register for the weekly newsletter sent by Dr Ralph Moss - it is very well referenced and a very useful resource for any cancer patient and their health practitioners. Guest guest
I think the big push for chemo/radiation in likely terminal situations is purely financial greed. At $4000-$6000 per chemo treatment, just think of all the money that can be soaked from insurance!! That's what makes me sick and that's why the early works of Koch, etc., were likely chased out of this country (University of Michigan, 1940's in the example of Koch). In the process of my treatment for stage 1 breast cancer (which is now completely gone), I spent a grand total of $1100 for medicinals and naturopathic testing and visits. Let's see, my western treatment would've included a lumpectomy ($4000??) and radiation (I have no idea of the cost of that, but suffice to say, it would be more than $1100). As long as cancer is a money making business, we will have no cure for cancer in the United States (unless, of course, some pharmaceutical company makes millions/billions in the process). Read " The Politics of Healing " (can't remember the author's name) for a bunch of truthful stories on this horrific scenario in the US. susie parkinson [susie] Tuesday, August 10, 2004 4:29 AM Chinese Medicine Re: Fatal dangers of chemo and Radiation I completely agree with you here Dr Spohn.
