Guest guest
Dear Group, thank you for allowing me the space for what I see as benefiting present and future patients. I'll conclude with this afterthought post and be silent for a bit as to not monoplolize or hog the bandwidth. I think it was the Dao de Ching where it said (forgive me if the source is wrong, I'm a pathetic scholar), 'The sage handles problems while they are still small/manageable, and the best physician cures disease before it manifests'. I posted this article only as a reminder of larger Market Forces that impact our daily practice, but as specialists and sub-specialists, for example- specializing in the rising tide of pediatric asthma and respiratory difficulty,(or even if we have a general/family/internal practice) we may not have time to reflect or consider the powerful unregulated trends driving our patient base for help. Trends toward industrial centralization that in the theoretically pure act of quickly and cheaply providing the articles and products wanted for a higher quality of life, are also undermining that utopian ideal with ever-increasing toxic body-burdens, climate and soil change, growing captive unemployed poor class, irreversible environmental and species loss, besides the discontent (heart break) with the failure of machines to free people for higher pursuits. In fact the human life is becoming more regimental and inflexible in order to keep the semi-automated complexes running. Add in the disruptive pervasive exploitative gorilla tactics of the bull market, and the lack of funding for 'world-game' type global resource research for policy steering, and personal/international peace retreats, while pain flourishes and fills the void. 'Thorns grow where armies march.' In this group there is no doubt holistic broad minds are attracted here, but key is awareness that these things are so. Planetary science and futurology is kind of my specialty(i.e. developments in sea change, international sea and space law, wildlife preservation areas). So many people don't know how critcal these things are, or even the source of the problem, so it becomes difficult to realize that there are still alternative ways to exist and make our societies function without continuing with gun-boat diplomacy that is causing revolt and civil war. The mainstream media edifice is not much help as a tool of global perspective, it is more a avenue of social conditioning and market testing and engineering. My point is as medical workers, we see, if we live long enough, the unusual/unatural increase in diseases brought about by maybe good motivation, but deleterious results. In order to 'handle problems while they are still small', and, 'cure disease before it manifests', we need to understand the etiology, and work with it. And I know it ain't gonna be easy. Thanks. ykcul_ritsym <ykcul_ritsym wrote: http://www.redflagsweekly.com/storm_warnings/poison.html By Ashley Simmons Hotz May 15, 2002 - The huge transnational companies that produce toxic chemicals found in pesticides, herbicides and industrial and household products profit not only from the sale of these products, but also from the symptoms and chronic illnesses that they can trigger. The same chemical companies that produce toxic chemicals also produce prescription drugs, veterinary medicines, a wide array of medical products and imaging technologies, hold cancer treatment and medical device patents, and a produce a staggering assortment of over-the-counter palliatives. Families with toxin induced illnesses often spend large sums for drugs and medical treatment. This circle of profit is not conspiracy theory, but an easily provable fact. Below are chem/pharm web sites for the largest companies in the world. There you can see quickly and clearly that these companies profit from all sides of the picture.
