Guest guest
Hi Steve You seem to be assuming that health screening does save money by getting disease early etc, but there are many health screening tests which actually have an adverse effect on health eg mammograms - increase risk of breast cancer and haven't been shown to reduce incidence of breast cancer deaths. Cholesterol levels is another area much discussed on this list where the drug companies encourage unrealistically low cholesterol levels because then their statin drugs get prescribed, with all the dangers inherent in those. CT scans, X-rays, colonoscopy etc all carry significant risks. Regards Susie - steve brinkop Chinese Medicine Thursday, August 05, 2004 10:36 PM Re: Digest Number 591 Hello . I am trying to find out whether there are figures on how much money patients and insurers can save by having regular health screenings.( Cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, etc. )would be great to get some hint where to look. Thanks Steve
