Guest guest
Hi all, I was chatting to a high ranking official at Beijing University the other day about the global development of TCM. His Chinese perspective on the matter was interesting. At the moment at Beijing University, the number of new students is dramatically increasing. This academic year just gone saw over 200 students in the first year. This coming academic year it will rise to over 400. Out of these high number of students, three-quarters are from Korea. Beijing University really has found it's cash cow! Now, recently, Chinese and Korean students have been segregated, don't ask me why. Therefore, the Korean government refuses to recognise graduated student's degree because of the segregation. Coupled with the fact that it's very difficult for Chinese nationals to leave China and only up to 2 years if at all and Koreans are not recognised in their home country and will have to pass Chinese government exams that favour Chinese, a large number of Koreans are immigrating to the USA, Canada, etc. Therefore the globalisation of TCM, now and in the future, as my friend explains, will come from the Koreans. Of course, I have nothing against this. It's however, interesting to see the every changing face of TCM, from ancient times, to syndrome differentiation (PRC) to Korean exported TCM. Kind regards Attilio
