As a practitioner of martial arts for 27 years, a meditator, and a fulltime practitioner for nearly 20 years I'll always value authentic communication of direct experience above intellectual or technical knowledge. IMHO, I agree that our literary tradition, by definition, is not at the cutting edge, but I do think it represents the " best part " of our knowledge to date both in quality and quantity with respect to how we are to procede from here.
