In the third century A.C. tibetans gathered the most important medical cultures in that time: chinese, ayurvedic and galenic (mediterranean), choosing the best. It is intersting how the 5 elements' theory grew up in the same years in China. I don't know where you read, but the historical origins of tibetan medicine are mentioned in many books, and it is a cool tale of a gathering of top med pros presenting thier system to a symposium hundreds of years ago. The herbal tx in Tibetan system mirror chinese formula often, and in the chinatowns near me both are for sale. The best 'Da Hou Lou Wan' is still of tibetan slope manufacture.
