Guest guest
Yes, I took the class in Mercy College in Oct 02. It deals with the ST meridian (ST 2-9: facial area) to tighten up wrinkles, etc; I've used it with good success in the NJ/NY area. Guest guest
Her website is at www.holisticbeauty.com. I took her course a few years ago. It mainly consists of a section of acupuncture protocols (based on differential diagnosis), which includes massage, and a section on essential oils for the skin. She also mentions herbs, although not in depth unless asked. (This may have changed since I took the course.) I have had several patients who have sought the treatments over a substantial period of time (6 months or more) and were happy with the results. It is probably best for those whose face is their fortune (i.e., actors, TV news anchors, etc.) and who want to postpone facelift surgery. But the average person will notice improvement as well, often after the first treatment. I found her to be very knowledgeable and friendly. She originally trained at Tri-State here in the NY area, but she has gone on to study with others (Jeffrey Yuen for one) since. She also has a referral list of those who have done her trainings. A listing of her courses is on her website. Guest guest
We just hosted this workshop at Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder. It filled within a week fo the announcement with our student body alone, few practitioners were able to get in. The protocol is complex and copyrighted for good reason, aside from the obvious that Virigina has created it. It isn't a cookbook style treatment and adequate screening and information about why it works and what you are doing is essential, so really, it's worth attending one of the seminars. People may share the protocol in spite of the copyright violations but what has come out of that is missing the depth of the instruction and is fairly bad medicine in terms of misapplication and not getting results because you don't really have the whole picture. Before I saw the presentation I mistakenly thought that it was something you could pick up without the background. If Virginia publishes the protocol you would have the background material that is necessary. Also, the weekend is an entire day of clinical practice and what I observed was that careful (if even slight) correction was needed. I saw an age spot disappear during a first treatment, facial shape visibly change, and I saw other things not disappear. The technique involves knowledge of muscle origin and insertion as well as acupuncture. Some people were visibly affected, others not so much. It takes repeated treatments to see the entire effect. Virginia is entering some serious Western research projects now, so more objective measures will be published. Others will have to speak to the results of repeated treatments and how long it lasts, as my experience is limited to this introduction. Many of our volunteers are now clamoring for repeated treatments. Not all our patients were here for improving appearance. We had people who were post stroke, who had minor scars, age spots etc. Not all the attendees ended up feeling that they would use the technique. It is a lot of needles, and can exaccerbate blood pressure problems, headaches, etc. It is an intense treatment. The most remarakble thing for me to see is that the approach is a total body approach with adequate TCM differentiation and regard for the individual presentation. The technique is clearly not for everyone (we turned away a volunteer who was on meds for high blood pressure) nor will all practitioners want to learn it, but it is based on solid theory and solid knowledge of anatomy. It may introduce the benefits of acupuncture to people who might not otherwise consider it, and often patients are amazed to find out how many other things our medicine can address. Hope this helps. Guest guest
I went to Virginia's workshop expecting a light fluffy presentation about how improve cosmetic appearance using acupuncture and aromatherapy. I have to say I was blown away by Virgina's in depth research and knowledge of a subject that is in fact quite profound. Virginia sees the face as the outward presentation of an inner state of health. Since completing the course I have had some excellent results with clients - but again it works because you are treating the whole person. Clients come for cosmetic reasons and are amazed when chronic health complaints start to fade away. I'm very much a fan of Virginia and would strongly recommend her courses. .. Kind regards Dermot

Guest guest
It's proprietary info, but it basically works the ST meridian for the facial part, but, as someone else mentioned, it's also an acup tx, which helps clear up other problems the client has.
