Consider adding Bai Bu or Xing Ren or Zi Wan to the >formula. That's what did the trick for her. >Laura That is something I hadn't thought about. I did have her on modified Ding Xin Wan, to nourish blood and yin, because of the combination of smoking Hx. and anxiety Hx., nightsweats and some malar flushing, as well as some thinness at the KD yin position, and I don't know if that was OK or not because I switched out of it to work on more SP pathology (with terrible results, apparently), since I was concerned about cloying herbs possibly as one source of bloating. But since she has the history of abuse, it makes sense that her LU qi is stagnant, and is blocked by phlegm, due to deep sadness, and she has compensated by using tobacco to vaporize the phlegm and circulate the qi. Perhaps moistening the LU will help that Qi descend down to the LI and unblock her. I'll try it. Still can't explain why KD Yang tonics made her freezing cold to the core. Anyone?
