Guest guest
whether or not i believe a low hanging door frame is obstructing my way, is somewhat irrelevant, because if i don't take the necessary steps to avoid it, i'll bang my head. whether or not i believe the ensuing sensation is pain or not is also somewhat irrelevant - we get the 'sensation' anyway. what we do with the sensation / how we interpret it and how it informs our future actions, is perhaps more pertinent. if pain is interpreted as something bad, something that doesn't, or shouldn't exist, surely we cut ourselves off from a source of wisdom in our lives and we begin to live in a world of duality, of good verses bad, where good must triumph at all costs over bad. - the classic christian doctrine. i believe that 'bad' actions flow from a viewpoint which insists on dividing the world into 'good' and 'bad'......as you quite rightly point out, what you believe to be true becomes true ! that opposites appear to exist, that pain appears to exist, is not the problem....i believe it has a rightful place......what we can change is how we interpret it, how we react to it. i think that one of the amazing qualities acupuncture displays, in my experience, is its ability to influence how people respond and react to stimuli - rather than suppressing the experience in a manner that tries to deny its existence - eg whether that is how someone reacts to the pollen that gives them hay fever, or how they react to their spouse which gives them migraines. i often see acupuncture working in this way - allowing the body another option of behaviour instead of reaching for the antihistamines or migralieve in an effort to blot out a bodily reaction Jason ======================================== Message date : Jun 25 2004, 02:29 AM From : " Dr. Holmes Keikobad " To : Chinese Medicine Copy to : Subject : Re: Digest Number 521 Tui-Na Respecting your views, I maintain that what believe to be true, becomes true.
